How to prevent access to public folders?
by Guest Millie- 0 replies

Hello, Our active directory is on a Windows 2000 server. We also have Exchange 2003 running on the same box as the active directory. I have set up a user on the network with an Exchange mailbox. The user is a member of the Domain Users group. Users access their email from the desktop or via Outlook Web Access. All of our email users can access our public contacts information via their mailbox. Is it possible to prevent a specific user from accessing the public contacts information via their mailbox through Outlook Web Access? Thank you for your help.

It's like pressing Alt-F4! Every time I press a shortcut key on my Natural Keyboard 4000 it closes whatever window is on top. I've tried reinstalling IntelliPoint and unpluggin/plugging in but the only thing that works is restarting my machine. It works for a while but after a couple of days it always goes back to closing windows.

I'm trying to configure Our Windows 2003 Server to use Enhanced Security so that I can stop users from downloading Unwanted Junk programs on to our terminal Server. I've tried some settings in GPedit but when I put the sites into the trusted zones they don't seem to take. Can someone give me some guidance on how to Configure IE so that they are not able to download spyware / junkware?

..Hello, When I attempted to register my ssl certificate, I could not find Certificates in the mmc Add Remove Snap In window. During investigation I found that CertMgr.msc was in my system32 folder, but CertMgr.dll was not. In fact it doesn't appear to be on the server when doing a file search. Where can I go (and trust) to find this file so I can download it? Thanks! Chuck

Cannot View Contents of My Pictures or My Music
by Guest JFelstead@googlemail.com- 0 replies

A relation rang me almost in tears on the weekend to say they had lost all of their digital photos in My Pictures folder and the same with their music in My Music folder. On closer inspection however the files are still there but cannot be seen. All user data is on a separate Hard Drive D:\ not the system drive C:\ (XP Proff SP2). If you use the run command and type D:\My Pictures\Xmas 2004 this sub folder opens and displays the contents, but if you browse to My Pictures through Windows Explorer none of these sub folders or any files within the root of the folder can be seen. Is this an issue with the Desktop.ini or Windows Shell? Can the desktop ini be replaced…

Problem with offline files
by Guest Lasse- 0 replies

Hi We replaced a server last year and some of the client computers had configured offline files on some folders on the server. The server was removed without removing the offline files/folders. Now the problem is that when syncing the folders it shows an error telling me that the folder on the old server can't be synched. That is understandable but how do I remove the reference to the old server? I have tried disabling offline files and the enabling them again but it doesn't solve the problem!

by Guest sopy9262- 0 replies

I have a Panasonic PV-DV53 mini DV Palmcorder comera and cannot get it recognized under Windows Vista Home Basic. It comes in as an unknown device and cannot find drivers. I have an Acer Aspire AST180-UA350B PC with 1.5 GIG of Ram and a built in 1394 (Firewire) Port. I am current with Vista update patches and have checked the Panasonic website for drivers, there are none present at this time. I also sent an email request to their Tech Support for suggestions. Will this be fixed in a Vista Service Pack or sooner?

admin groups

Hi all: What is the difference of privilege between the Builtin\Administrators group and the Domain Admin group? It confuses me all the time. What is the difference between adding a user into Builtin\Administrators group and the Domain Admin group? I know Domain Admin group is a member of Builtin\Administrators, but it seems the Domain Admin group has more privilege than the other one. Because if I add a user into Builtin\Administrators, he/she can't be in the Local Admin group, which Domain Admin group can do the trick. And what happen if I delete the Domain Admin group in the Builtin\Administrators member list? The Domain Admin group will not funtion well …
