Well I am usually pretty good about deleting the files before I delete the user. However, I now have a collection of Quotas with "account information unavailable" because I have deleted the user. I do click "delete" but often it takes about 4 min to view the files which is a bit ridiculous. I can't just take control of the upper folder because it contains all my users. I also have it showing 1kb when there is "nothing" in the Quota File/Folder list to delete? I am thinking of doing an xcacls run to see what folders don't have users. Does anyone else have any other suggestions to get rid of these quotas? Thanks Lara

Hello Rick, I will Backup the server first and possible do a test restore before a server is physically moved from one location to another. I will also verify that KCC\ISTG has established new replication partners correctly and review inter-site link costs just to make sure they are still relevant and up to date. Make sure one DC has enough capacity to cater all users in Main site. Hi, setup a scheduled daily backup using ntbackup, however, it seems unable to overwrite a used tape even though in job setup it is opted to do so. In the report, it says: cannot locate the specified media or backup device. What was wrong and how to fix it? thanks in advance,

Hi All, I'm setting up a Domain controller and file server for our three branch offices connected by a VPN. Each office will have one of each in each office. Number of users in the office are 35, 22 and 6. The aim is to have a pair of servers (DC and File server) in each office to act as backup for the others if a local DC becomes unavailable. There is one domain ie. 'mydomainname.local'. I was planning to place the DNS server on the same PC as the DC. My question is. If one of the office the Domain controller (with DNS server installed) fails. What is the best set up to allow users in that office to still logon to one of the two remaining DC's in the other …

I have noticed a problem when I use the search tool in Windows Server 2003 R2. I was going through the server searching for all *.jpg files and when I did it pretty much took the server down to a crawl and I had users calling me one after the other asking why the server was so slow. What is going on when I am doing the searching? I have checked the indexing service in administrative tools and it is turned off and I have the option to not use indexing in the search options. Where else could the problem be?? Thanks in advance.

I’m currently in the process of testing a Disaster Recovery Plan. The plan consists of total loss of hardware, and restoring recent backups to different hardware. I have a server setup with similar volume info and the same version and release of server 2003 std. sp1. I receive the following error message while running NT Backup(Restore Wizard), The backup file contains unrecognized data and cannot be used. I’m trying to restore a backup from the Hypothetically (lost server) to the new (New Hardware) Server. I’ve run the backup on the current server and tried to restore to the new server, but keep getting the same error message. Can anyone point me i…

Hi, In *Vista*, I noticed that it is not possible to have more than one Windows *Explorer* window in full screen (F11) mode at a time. This limitation does not apply to Internet *Explorer* 7. Does anyone know how to get around that limitation? Thanks, Simon Note: This question was originally posted on /microsoft.public.platformsdk.shell/ on Sept 21. Since no one replied, I decided to cross-post it here.

Ok, this is the second time I have seen applications that use the Microsoft Installer do this. Currently after installing a program like Acrobat 8.1 Pro, the microsoft installer launches and tries to correct issues with the Acrobat 8.1 installation when I right click on icons, folders or open office applcations. I have traced this down to errors in the event viewer that claim certain registry keys don't exist for the Acrobat applicaiton under HKCR. When I check to see if these keys are there, I see the root key and when I click on it the system complains that Access is Denied. I can take ownership and then set permissions, but there are way too many key…

Running Windows Vista Business It has this weird glitch where that every other week or so, when I start up my computer, my taskbar seems to "reset" I've three custom toolbars I keep on the right side of my taskbar. When this "Reset" occurs, those toolbars are removed and the quick launch region becomes as big as the application region (still left justified), and my application region is as big as the quick launch region (still right justified). Now, if that weren't weird enough, here's something I've noticed: there's a pattern to these resets... It happens every other week on a Tuesday or Thursday. It always happens when I start my computer up whi…

We have two terminal servers network load balanced with session director configured. The idea with session director is that if a user logs on and then disconnects then when he next connects the user will be directed to his disconnected session. We have an issue in that it does not work all the time. Not sure if it's linked to the subnet that the user connects from. There is nothing mentioned about this but from observing what happens plus the users connect in the office and then from remote sites, it maybe a factor. Has anyone else used it and had similar issues and perhaps fixed it. I have been through all the articles I can find on TechNet plus the white pa…

I was directed to a new version of the acctinfo.dll ADUC addon, with increased functionality, by an MVP. He said to get it from a TAM. Only problem is that we're a mid-sized business without an enterprise contract, so no TAM. I called PSS and was forwarded to a rep in India who didn't have a clue what I was talking about and wanted to charge me for a support call to look into it. Anyone have a better idea where I can get the updated tool version? acctinfo2.dll Version: 1.0.0.1125 Date: 21/08/2007 File size: 335,872 bytes

Just installed Vista Business as upgrade to WinXP home and endured 'many' updates so I have little history with Vista. Problem: IE7 opens tabs but can't make the new tabs do anything or close with the red X. Got one of the 6 open to do something when I clicked "learn more link" & a new IE window opens with previously opened 'tabs' :http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/internet.mspx Now this 'new window' is the same each time, it just adds another tab & goes to http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Windows/en-US/internet.mspx & that one is only partly functional. What the ?><)++##@ is going on? What can I do to make IE7 work? DanR

On a XPSP2 system I have a folder on the root of C: drive that I cut TXT files from and paste them into another folder located on the desktop. After doing this a few times I get the Windows Explorer "needs to close" crash dialog. My new Dell Vostro laptop had Vista home basic installed and activated. I purchased the upgrade for Vista Home Premium. I received the upgrade DVD after about a month of non-receipt of the DVD after the order was placed. The link provided for the upgrade which I guess was for the product license key expired and I couldn't use my verizon.net email address to create an account to access the digital locker so I proceeded to install the upgrade from the DVD while waiting to get instructions on how to access the digital locker. The upgrade appears to have completed normally after about 90 minutes of installation time with no error messages but I only now …
