Hi, I have an issue which wasn't solved so i post again. Before upgrading XP SP2 from Win2K Pro Sp4 there wasn't any problem like that with the same hardware config and drivers. But now that drives me crazy: If i logon XP without entering password (auto-logon), always my network cable seems "unplugged", it's not true because i can surf the net "fine." Or if the login process is very fast ("welcome" screen is shown for a few seconds or less), i got "network" cable unplugged notification icon problem. I set up my network properly and both LEDs are lighting up properly (NIC and router). Shortly, although i see "network cable unplugged" i have no problem surfin…

Hope someone can help out here. I re-installed MSN Live messenger V8.1 in order to fix some minor problems.. Now I got a problem. I can run Live Messenger in the admin account.. However, for another user account, the program just hangs. I can see the msnmsg.exe in the process tab of Task Manager for this user but program won't run.. I have deleted some MSN folder/files from this user account before I reinstalled WLM and not sure is this what created the problem.. Any suggestion on how to fiox this ? Thanks

When I try to explore by either double clicking or right clicking on My Computer to browse my drives the system hangs up on me (not responding). I have recently upgraded to Office 2007, but I have also done some Windows updates. How do I troubleshoot this? I am lost. I tried to search for others with same problem but only see KB911562 update as causing this (not related to office 2007) and that was from back in April. Can't even find this update on my system (in Add remove programs) or I would remove this. Should I just start removing updates first and see what happens? HELP!

When I run DirectX Diagnostics, it dies on me. When I re-start it, it says it had a problem at DirectShow the last time and do I want to bypass this. If I select yes, it goes through just fine. If I select no, it dies again. I also have Sony Sound Forge Audio Studio dying on me when initializing DirectX components which I beleive may be due to the same problem. Can I just dis-able DirectShow and still work on my PC? If not, is there some way to re-install this or figure out why it is causing a problem? My PC also will no longer go to sleep but not being an expert user, I am again not sure if this is due to the same problem. Help!!! Denzil Fe…

A friend of mine has an HP Pavilion Slimline s7712n Desktop PC. He is running Vista Premium and uses an Agere Systems US 2.0 Soft Modem (on COM 3) for a dial-up connection to his ISP, Net Zero. For quite a while now, he has been getting 633 and 797 error messages. The first one says "port already open or in use" and the second one says "a connection to the remote computer could not be established / modem was not found or busy." I had a brief look at it yesterday (I told him I'd need to return to spend more time with it. These are the notes I took: There is no modem in Device Manager. There is one exclamation mark in Device Manager next to Microsoft 6to4 Ad…

I was out of the country for three weeks. I used a wide variety of machines in different settings and different countries, all XP, not a single Vista machine in general use. Nor was there a Mac in sight. In fact I do not recall even seeing a Mac available for sale in a store front. Ipods yes, even in Africa. Thinking perhaps Microsoft had issued some fixes to make Vista usable I booted up. Nah. Vista still cannot reliably stream internet media, connect to XP computers and nearly every disk access operation is agonizingly slow. Since I rely on graphics applications I cannot be sure that color calibration is maintained every time an idiot warning box comes…

Installed all of the requirements as it stated, however when I try to run the installer for sharepoint 2007 it says i need to : requires asp.net v2.0 to be set to 'allow' in the list of IIS web server extensions. if not available in the list, re-install asp.net 2.0 I did install .net framework 3.0, and .net framework 2.0, ran all of the patches from microsoft update, however for default website properties i can select between 1.x and 2.x for asp.net version, but i then re-run the installer same error? Any ideas?

Need some thoughts on this one. In my everyday windows WIN XP/OE, I have my windows incoming set at maybe 15 or so to go through. During this set, I have maybe one or three emails coming in that won't let me delte. They are different kinds and spaces. Not necessary the top one or two, or whatever. What I do is simply hit shift/delete. At first, I though I might have gotten too many in the recycle bin. Benn at the hospital for about 10 days, and forgot to delete when I got back. I went ahead and deleted those. Seemed ok for a day, but later right back to the problem. What is happening?
