At first you would not dare say anything about vista... they had the nerve to insist that vista is a fantastic product that would be a phenomenal success! For some stupid reason they had an attraction to that monstrosity called vista. But then over the next months they started to sweat. News poured from all over the place that people started to hate vista. From person to person word of mouth the news was out. AVOID VISTA! Then more news that PC stores kept on selling XP, or even ripping out Vista and installing XP. Then the MS backpedaling by extending XP life for 6 more months. Something was certainly not going well for the Vistaboys.. at last som…

Have a midi problem with a new audio card I purchased - it does not work with my midi piano. I recently discovered (after testing my midi piano on another computer) that I must have a conflict or something with my new midi card & winxp. * I tested my midi piano works on another older computer, so I eliminated both the cable and the piano as a suspect in this problem. I am trying to clear/uninstall all of the Creative SoundBlaster audio drivers and files (that came with the new sound card) and the SoundMax files/drivers (that came with the onboard audio motherboard) so I can start fresh with this new audio card ** Please note that the onboard audio d…

Hello, I am using Windows Vista Ultimate with all the available updates loaded. When I try to place my computer in Hibernation mode, the computer acts like it is powering down and then logs my computer off and takes me back to the log in screen. I have tried several different methods to fix this issue. 1. I checked to make sure none of my hardware drivers where in beta or conflict with Vista features. 2. I deleted the Hibernate.sys file, disabled hibernation in the command prompt, restarted the computer, turned hibernate back on and hoped that when in created the new hibernate.sys file that it would fix the issue. 3. I checked and made sure that I…

I keep a collection of *.jpg photos on CD-R's and DVD+R's using "Sonic's" DLA for recording and finalizing the CD's. That worked on my old Dell as well as on my new HP Pavilion & Compaq laptop. Recently ejecting the CD's after viewing, both PC's crash and blue screen is asking to check for BIOS updates or Hardware updates. Could have HP's automated updates have caused that change? Any help is greatly appreciated. Gerry

I have two Windows 2003 Server systems. When I open a folder on one of the servers from my Windows XP Home laptop, any changes in the folder (copying files, etc.) automatically appear. When I do the same thing on the new server, the folder only updates when I manually refresh it. Any suggestions on why this is happening and how I can fix this would be appreciated. -- Mike Schumann

I'm running WinXP Pro and save all my data on my D: drive, including a folder with my favorite icons. In the past I've changed a large number of folder icons in my D: drive by copying the desktop.ini from one folder into the rest of the folders. The next time I brought up Windows Explorer, these changed icons appeared correctly in Windows Explorer. Recently I had to reinstall my operating system because of a virus that infected all the executable files on both drives. I restored several folder directories on my D: drive from backups. These backups included the original desktop.ini files with the changed icons, but now Windows Explorer will no longer read …
