Our printers are set up to print through a Windows 2000 print server using the IP address, so on the client, the printer shows up as: HP_4200 on 123.45.678.910 Is there any way (other than setting up the printer on a TCP/IP port) to tell Windows to NOT display that IP address? We want the printer to stay installed from the server, but we only want the clients to see the printer name HP_4200. Thanks!

I had my wife's account set up as Administrator. I set it back to standard user. Since then, whenever we download a file through IE7, it seems to work (downloads to 100%), then the dialog disappears, and the file is not in the target location. It seems like it gets moved, since if I download to the Desktop, I see an icon, that then disappears. Restoring the account to Administrator did not resolve the problem. Downloads through Firefox work correctly. We do not have Norton or McAfee installed. We have AVG. Uninstalling it did not resolve the problem. In what I think is a related problem, we cannot save or open e-mail attachments from Windows M…

I am setting up the content advisor to allow only one site to be accessed. It does that well, but within the website that I allow, I have a popup window that is launched and a javascript that is run. If either of these occurs, the content advisor window pups up asking for the administrator password. The popup window and script are not kept from working, it is just that the popup window comes up and I have to X out of it. Does anyone know what would make the content advisor popup window to appear (especially since it does not disable the viewing of the popup window or the result of the java script). The following script is placed in the Windows/system32 …

Probably a simple question under compatibility on XP Pro there isn't "Allow no?n-administrators to run this program". It's on my TS (maybe it's only on server?). What I am trying to do is allow a program that needs admin rights to run to run without giving the person admin rights (yes that's the same phrase twice but it's correct!) Thanks all, Tim

I have a Windows 2000 domain with some Windows 2003 member servers. One of those servers is used for file sharing to Macintosh OS X computers using File Services for Macintosh. Untill this year we were using Windows 2000 server for this. When Mac users connect to the Windows 2003 server the folders that they do not have access to disappear. The disappearing can take quite some time causing a problem sin they have access to 2 folders out of 300+ folders. This does not happen with Windows 2000 server, and it occurs with multiple servers. Is there anything that I can do?

Hi, Is there a free application or a simple way in Windows XP, for me to either copy files from one folder to another, and if the file name already exists in the destination folder, it will copy/move and just add a (1), (2), etc. to the file name (depending on how many same name files are being transfered), and not overwrite the original? The other thing if there was a way to automatically overwrite if, for example, the source file is smaller in bytes (but not larger or equal to) than the destination, or vice versa. I have uses for either one of those copying/moving schemes, depending on what I'm working on. Thanks much.

Hi, I'm testing the email encryption and digital signature functionality on Windows Mobile 5 (OS 5.1.195 Build 14955.2.3.0). My personal certificate is imported via p12import and it shows up in the certificate store. So I can encrypt messages but cannot decrypt messages nor sign messages. So I believe something is wrong with the private key. I have also configured the email encryption in Active Sync on my mobile. My cert is for all purposes. Cheers Lutz

I am accessing audio and video content from a website using ASX files pointing to my media server content. Streaming these files seems to be working just fine for XP and Win98. However for Vista users and those who have upgraded to MP11 it fails. Can anyone offer an explaination and some help? Thanks....RDK
