Check the box for the File Server Management console and click OK. 7. When the install completes, close the Windows Components wizard and the Add/Remove Programs applet. However cannot see File Server Management Console, already has the role of the file server. Thanks EggHeadCafe - .NET Developer Portal of Choice http:…

Hello, Sorry to have to ask but I wonder if someone can help. I am trying to connect to a Windows Server 2003 via either Windows XP Home or Windows 2000 Professional. I have configured the client with PPTP. I can connect to the server ok and using the \\server command can view all of the servers resources. What I cannot do is to login to the roaming profile and all I get is the local profile. I have made the changes as suggested by Microsoft regarding potential slow connections but to no avail. I have also tried logging in using the Windows 2000 Professional "Login using Dial up" but again, it only shows the local profile. How do I login to m…

Hi, I'm using the printmig (3.1) application in order to backup all of the printers in our printer cluster. The backup takes place every week with a script. In the pm.log of the printmig I see "2007:10:06 17:00:41 243 print queues enumerated", which are the exact number of printers that we have. I took the CAB file and used the restore option in the lab, in the pm.log I see "2007:10:08 15:29:01 172 print queues enumerated", so basically I have 71 printers missing... The printer cluster name in the lab is different than the one in the production environment, but as far as I know it does not matter since the printmig application is for migrations of this…

Hello, I noticed that when I mouse over an icon in my system tray, a small comment box is supposed to pop up and give me additional information (for example, mousing over the time will give you the date). However, when I mouse over anything, it pops up behind the taskbar, so I cannot read what the comment are. I checked multiple forums and people have discovered that the problem is in the way the "Keep the taskbar on top of other windows" option works. It seems it steals priority over the comments, making them almost invisible. If I uncheck that option, it fixes the problem, but then the entire taskbar disappears. This effectively replaces one inconvenience wi…

Out of nowhere today, my 'Documents' folder has become hidden. I can't uncheck the "Hidden" option in the folder properties - it's ticked but greyed out and cannot be clicked. It's the same for my user folder at C:\Users\<User>. Just seems to be these two folders. Anyone know how I can unhide these? -- sphere

Can anyone tell me how I can access raw devices in vista. Currently vista is stopping me doing legitimate work on my PC that I could do with ease under windows XP. The things I am trying to do is. Use syslinux to make a USB attached compact flash card bootable. Access the said USB stick through vmware as a raw physical disk. Both of these are valid things, and I dont see why I get access denied all the time. I have tried it with elevated privileges and through the administrator account with no success. I'd just like to turn this feature off. Graham
