by Guest DBC User- 0 replies

Hi, I have one program which runs in vista OS, which is supposed to read some files from a W2K server. I map a network drive and when I run the program as a regaular user I am able to read the files, but when I run the program in admin mode (runas), the program is not seeing the network drive, I get an error back with 'file or directory not found'. Is there something special in Vista that cause this problem? Just becuase standard user mapped the drive means admin can not see the mapped drive? Thanks.

Trouble with XP CD Writer
by Guest JamesG- 0 replies

The embedded CD Writing Wizard in my Windows XP Home has worked fine until now. Currently when I try to back-up files to a CD, the XP Writing Wizard keeps telling me "there was an error in the writing process. Disc may no longer be usable." This is incorrect, because I can write to the same disc by using my Nero program. The XP Writing Wizard is more convenient to use than Nero. Is there anyway I can make it work as it should? Thanks much. -- JamesG

RTC on systemboard adjusted by Windows?
by Guest Albert Ochsner- 0 replies

Hello all Ich have some Windows XP sp2 machines (hp D530sff) in a Windows 2003 sp1 domain. This machines are switched off from power after work. The RTC on the mainboards is shifting slowly away, so i get diffs of some minutes after a some months. When the pcs are running for about two hours, the time inside Windows has been adjusted to the domain. But after the the pcs are powered off over night, and switched on the next day, the same growing difference in time is back again. Of course i can set the time inside BIOS, but after 6 month it goes some minutes faster or slower. Should Windows adjust the time (RTC) on the Mainboard automatically? The set…

WMDC Doesn't seem to be able to keep separate profiles
by Guest Jim Hansen- 0 replies

I am running Vista Home Premium, WMDC version 6.1.6965. I have a Motorola Q SmartPhone and a Dell Axim x51v. I do NOT attempt to connect the devices at the same time. I also have a Dell laptop running XP that I sync my calendar to. The problem I am running into is WMDC seems to set the sync settings to the last device connected irregardless of the device that is connected. So if I switch devices, the profile reverts to the previous device and I have to go in and change the sync settings. Meaning, if I sync my SmartPhone (which as different setting) and then connect my PocketPC, the sync setting for the PocketPC will be changed to what the SmartPh…

WMDC has high CPU utilization when connected and doing nothing
by Guest Jim Hansen- 0 replies
Since the last update of WMDC 6.1.6965 there is a huge nearly 100% CPU utilization when connecting then a constant 15 to 30 percent utilization while either my SmartPhone or PocketPC is connected. This didn't use to happen. I used to leave my phone connected and use my Vista computer's connection to connect to radio channels, TV channels and the such. Now, WMDC is bogged down with unknown activity. Is anyone else having these problems? It this normal? Is there a way to fix it? I am running Vista Home Premium, I have a Motorola Q running WM5 and a Dell x51v running WM5 (I never have the two connected at the same time). -- Jim Hansen

I just started getting this "Memory Management" blue screen about once a day. Stop code 0x1a. I used4gb of memory for about 3 months but removed 2 of them to be replaced (leaving me with 2gb). I have run memtest86 and the Vista memory diagnostic tool, both finding nothing! Anyone got an idea of why this happens? Is there some known Vista bug with this? I can't figure it out!
