OS: Windows Terminal server 2003' VPN client: CISCO vpn client I am a bit confused. Here I am only mentioning the same TERMINAL server all the way. 1) One day I defined a few printers in the terminal server with my Domain logon ID. (BTW, my logon has admin prvileges on this machine). I am on the physical network when defining them ( not VPN ). Then I logoff and asked other Domain users to RDP to the terminal server, they can all see the printers from their Windows -> control panel -> printers / faxes applet. 2) Today I sign-on as usual. I define one new printer \\xxx.xxx.xx.xx\printer with my logon but the printer is a local printer c…

After a windows update prior to the very last one, I noticed that the dialogue below my user icon and names, basically the unread e-mail notices did not appear. I have to shut off my computer by holding the computer start button in as clicking with my mouse does not do anything. Sometimes the dialoque appears after 1 restart sometimes it takes 3. Once the dialogue box reappears it works fine. Any ideas on how to fix this?

I have added an explicit ldap crl distribution point entry onto one of our Enterprise Subordinate CA's (member server), in the format ldap://cdp1.contoso.com/CN=CorporateRootCA,CN=Root_CA,CN=CDP,CN=Public Key Services,CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=contoso,DC=com? certificateRevocationList?base?objectClass=cRLDistributionPoint When I added the entry I noticed that the option to "Publish CRL's to this location" is greyed out. After checking the available boxes, and viewing the CDP distribution points with the pkiview utility. The explicit entry that I added does not show up. Only the delta CRL entry Could someone please tell me if this is by design? D…

Yesterday's automatic update required a restart of my computer. I sign on with a network password which won't work because I'm not connected to the internet. I can't get into my computer. I no longer remember the password for my computer since a change and use only my network password. I have shut my computer off before and signed back in using my network password before. why can't I do that this time? did this update affect my ability to do that?

Hello We have written a device driver for a multidrop device (type of serial card) for Windows NT4. It works fine on NT4 but we want to see if we can get it to work without any code changes on XP. On NT there was a devices section where I can see if the driver is loaded/running but cannot seem to find anything like this on XP? Where should I be looking? The device driver does not appear in the list of services but by calling the Windows API OpenService function with the driver name it indicates it has been installed. Basically I want to know how I can check that a device driver is installed correctly and working in XP. how do I do that? Angus

USATODAY.com - I am banging out this column on an exquisite, piano-black all-in-one desktop PC. The guts of this glossy computer are crammed inside a trim and easily tilted 19-inch wide-screen flat-panel LCD monitor. The keyboard and mouse are wireless. The invisible stereo speaker is behind an acrylic front panel. A slot-loading DVD burner is on the right; disk ejection is handled by pressing the keyboard. Only a single power cable emerges from the rear bottom of the machine. Link To Original Article
