My Sony Click to DVD software on my Sony VAIO PCV-RS530G Computer is not recognizing my Sony DCR-TRV340 Digital Video Camera since I installed Pinnacle Editing Software. When I try to capture from this Digital Video Camera, it is recognizing the Pinnacle Software instead. I uninstalled the Pinnacle Software, and the computer still wants to recognize that same Pinnacle Software that has been uninstalled. The Windows Digital Video Device box shows only Pinnacle Studio or Take No Action. How can I get my computer to recognize my Digital Video Recorder as in the past so I can capture video using my Click to DVD software? In Hardware/Device Manager/Imag…

When I copy files from the Windows Vista clients to my Wondows 2000 server domain controller the copy/move is very slow. I order to copy a 15MB file I wait 23 seconds (21 seconds for "calculating time ramaining..." and 2 seconds for the copy). If I copy the same file on another Windows 2000/2003 server (non domain controller) or a linux/samba share wait only 2 seconds. On Domain Controller I don't have network errors (netstat -e). I have read this KB article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321169 and this http://support.microsoft.com/kb/321098/ Thanks Ale

I'm usually running low (~5GB free of 60GB) on free disk space, but I've noticed an 'odd' behaviour with Vista that has just hit as a 'critical' problem. When I copy files off of my computer over a network to my file server my free disk space drops. Today I was copying a 8GB VirtualPC disk image so I could compress it and copy it back and I've run out of disk space, which has caused all sorts of problems with other applications that periodically write to the disk, including other file copy / move opperations off of the computer over the network. Furthering the problem, when the copy completed the disk space used by the copy was not released. As you migh…

When buying my current laptop, I inquired about IIS and was told that I would need to upgrade to Ultimate to be able to use it. So I began the upgrade, which first updated my current version, Home Premium, but then I realized that IIS works just fine on this version. I returned the upgrade to the store, still technically running Home Premium. But now whenever I turn on my computer, it displays a message telling me that my product key (which I never entered) is invalid, and that I should buy/enter a new one. So my question is, is there any way to make this message go away? In addition, when I tried the option to enter a new product key it asked me to ente…

Hi, I have just upgraded to Vista Ultimate with IE7. For diagnostic purposes have IE7 set to warn of cookies. I run a small community website, and I have developed a cookie problem on-line - my member registration "remember me " cookie is not getting set, although I am warned that one is about to be set. Also, cannot reset the cookie with new expiry date. Off line I have IIS7 installed and there is no problem when running my site offline - the cookie gets set and amended as necessary with the same security settings as online. Also, on another machine running XP Pro with IE6 works fine online. My webhost is running IIS5. Is there possibly a problem …

I've been using a Linksys WMB54G Wireless Music Bridge to stream audio from my WinXP system to a remote home theater setup. I want to move to Vista, and, after waiting for months, Linksys hasn't been able to come up with drivers for this device with Vista. There's a lot of discussions about workarounds on a Linksys forum, but I haven't been able to get any of them to work at all/very well. Can someone recommend a wireless audio solution that works with Vista? I'd like to stream as many types of audio as possible from the PC - MP3's, internet radio, etc. I'd like it to support 802.11g or better, since wireless range is an issue here ...

Not sure if this is the right place to submit this question but here goes... We have windows server 2003 web servers configured with windows media services and it seems that the links mms:// no longer work when linking streaming media files from the server. rstp:// works but not mms://. We have WMP 11 and IE 7 on our Win XP client computers. mms:// links used to work in the past but now they don't any longer. I'm being told by others in the office that another client is using mms:// links to streaming media files and they are working for them. How can I get mms:// links to work from a Windows Server 2003 web server system? Is that possible? Thanks!

We have begun using Windows Vista Business. Our servers are 2003. We have user folders on a server named like this: \\servername\users\username When the folder for a Vista user is first created, it looks normal. After you enable Offline Files for on that user's computer, then the user folder on the network is changed to "Documents" with a greenish/blus icon beside it. As a network admin. , I cannot determine whose folder it is just by looking ....

Is there a way to remove CA certificates from a Certificate authority? It looks like the person before me was having real trouble setting up the Root Certificate Authority. If I go into the Certification Authority (Local) ->Properties -> General tab. I see this Certificate #0 Certificate #1 Certificate #2 Certificate #3 Certificate #4 If I view the certificates it looks like #0 will expire in 2029 and #1-#4 will all expire on the same date in 2031. When I go into the certificate snap-in under trusted root certification authorities it see all of these certificates with the same Cert Auth. Do I really need all these Certificates? Lately I cant install anything. Anything I try finishes saying error or that it was interrupted or the following; "msiexec.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience". I assume something I installed was bad so I tried the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility but this removes nothing. I tried to redownload Windows Installer but to no effect. It installs ok but doesn't fix the issue. I uninstalled any programs I recently installed but still the same. I followed the Knowledge Base article here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;555175 but no fix. Can anybody Help Thanx in advance

Hello, I don't know if you are already aware of this issue. This happend while copying a folder to a USB thumbdrive. If you try to copy/move a folder or a file(s) and the destination does not have enough space, Vista will dispaly the "Note enough disk space..." message even though you want to override the destination file or folder. I have confirm this on Vista U and B. BTW, the same folder/files copy works just fine under WinXP(after you respond with yes to the "destination folder exist..." message.) Thank you ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. To vote for this sugg…

OS: Windows Terminal server 2003' VPN client: CISCO vpn client I am a bit confused. Here I am only mentioning the same TERMINAL server all the way. 1) One day I defined a few printers in the terminal server with my Domain logon ID. (BTW, my logon has admin prvileges on this machine). I am on the physical network when defining them ( not VPN ). Then I logoff and asked other Domain users to RDP to the terminal server, they can all see the printers from their Windows -> control panel -> printers / faxes applet. 2) Today I sign-on as usual. I define one new printer \\xxx.xxx.xx.xx\printer with my logon but the printer is a local printer connected t…
