I have a color printer set up on a Win 2003 R2 print server. This is in a school and the printer is in the teachers room. All kids have the ability to print there and he does not want this. He wants to verify the print jobs and make sure they are legitimate before they actually print. Kids tend to print a lot of nonsense out wasting the toner. I do use Print Manager plus but this does not seem to have this feature. Any ideas how this can be done? I've tried to have him pause the printer which works for him but the students still send fine. Basically I'd like the jobs to go in a "hold" status until he releases them. Thanks for any advice on this. Dawn

very annoying problem - when creating new task and setting a triger such as repeat every 10 days it shows me an error that duration of time is illegal althogh the box of "repeat task every __ for a period of __" is disabled. enabling this checkbox and changing the duration isn't helping too, so I can't create any new task (except basic tasks) thanks for your help.

I want a pdh.dll (or a perfmondata.dll) file that would work on a Windows Server 2003 platform. I need to access some performance counters of a custom application, which are listed under perfmon. They can be captured using the APIs provided by Performance Data Helper. I tried to work around with WMI classes, but it just seems too complicated. Also, is there any other way to do this? Thanks and regards

At the command line, if I say dir > 123 then CMD.EXE sends a listing of the directory to a file named 123. If you read 123 using NOTEPAD you see the directory listing presented as a normal vertical column of directory entries. The lines are separated by 0Dh 0Ah bytes - Carriage Return and Line Feed If I say DISKPART > 123 then CMD.EXE sends the text output to file 123. The text is the usual Microsoft Copyright stuff. When you read it with NOTEPAD the lines are not seperated vertically - they all run together. When you view it as HEX you see the lines are separated by 0Ah - but no Carriage Return. What's up with that ??? Why they do it like that ??…
