I once reinstalled XP just because the options in Folder Options>File Types were ALL greyed out, it was so annoying. However here's one possible solution (it seemed to work for me, but I cannot be sure), for anyone else with the same issue. Just copy and paste the following text into Notepad, save as *.reg (NOT as *.txt, so that it is saved as a regfile not a text document) and then rightclick it and select "Merge" to add it to the Registry. Then reboot: Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\policies\Explo rer] "NoFileAssociate"=dword:00000000 [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Cur…

Hello, I have in event viewer a message : Security policy in the group policy objects are applied successfully. The time that happens, the task-schedule that is running at the time I got the above message, is run forever (it is hangged) and need to be stopped. I don't know if when the above message that occurs, related to the problem that the task-schedule running at the same time is hangged. (And what is the mean of that message : "Security policy in the group ..." ?) Help, please. Thanks :)

My windows sessions were crashing about an hour in. I tried using the repair function on my windows installation disk. When it starts back up, there is a message that windows is starting back up. After about 10 seconds it goes into safe mode and I get another message saying windows set up can start in safe mode. I restart and hit f8 to start windows normally. The same thing occurs, it goes into safe mode.

Hi there! After downloading IE7 and add-ons and updates for XP servicepack I couldnt open folders on my computer. They kept flashing rapidely and on top of it was said Internet Explorer. In some strange way I got the impression that KB 908531 was the problem, so run http://patch-info.de/WinXP/Downloads/KB908531_Share-To-Web.zip and the flashing disappeared, but I still couldnt open ordinary folders. This it was because I didnt have access to cc:Mail. The error message told me to make outlook my default E-mail. I did so, but that didnt help either. Now, what do I do. Obviously Im one of those novices (didnt think so) dogbeagle talked about. Can anyone he…
