Apparently, OpenOffice 3.0 is intent on picking a fight with Microsoft Outlook. Bonne chance, mes amis. I don't mean to imply that it can't be done, but am rather suggesting that this is not the right way to go about it. Zimbra, sure. Or Mozilla's Thunderbird (standalone), sure. But bundled into OpenOffice? I'm not seeing it. This arises from a presentation delivered earlier this year at the OpenOffice conference: ...[O]ne thing that really caught my attention was [a] reference to including a Personal Information Manager (PIM) [in OpenOffice]. More specifically the presentation mentions bundling Thunderbird with their Office Suite, and refers to it as an…

Hello, Recently i noticed i cannot save changes to a gpo. When i try to save it i get a message "The Group Policy snapin was unable to save your changes due to the following error: The process cannot access the file because it is being used by another process." The strange thing is that this only happens when i try to edit a administrative template. I can edit other settings. Also it seems that i am able to edit the gpo's on a other DC, when i tell gpmc to use that DC. I did a rebuild of the sysvol tree (kb315457) but that did not help. I tried every sollution i found on the net but stil it isn't working. I looks to me like the problem is in the registry of…

Vistax64 Business Windows 2003 R2 Our system is set up to use roaming profiles and folder redirection (scenario 3 in the "Managing Roaming User Data Deployment Guide"). To summarise: I have checked on the server and the user account has a profile path set: \\server\share\username. I can see this from the client computer when logged in as username. Folder redirection has been set to \\server\user_data\%USERNAME% \Application Data for My documents etc. Again I can see this and subdirectories from the client computer. This has been working fine for some time. Over the weekend I was using the computer offline and now, having reconnected to the network, the accoun…

Hi All, I am having a strange problem, which I have to date been able to reproduce on three separate machines. The problem lies in browsing when using a limited account. It seems that even when internet security settings are set to the lowest possible settings, that pages that utalise the Telerik RAD Control suite (http://www.telerik.com) for ASP.Net do not display correctly. For example: http://development.super-date.co.uk or http://mick.codegurus.org This is not a problem when viewing the websites from higher privillaged accounts. I am assuming it is an issue because of the javascript these controls generate, however, I may well be wrong. I'm j…

When using the Bitlocker Drive Preparation tool on an existing Vista Ultimate installation, I'm unable to get the system to start from the new partition. The tool seems to do it's stuff, but when restarting, all I get is a "Missing Operating System" error message when the laptop trys to start. I boot with the Vista DVD and then attempt a repair, but the only way to get back into Vista is to make the original Vista partition active and repair that installation. The Boot directory is copied to the new directory, and so is the Bootmgr, but it still won't start. Would appreciate any and all thoughts! Thanks!

For the past week, have had a ton of problems on a normally very stable computer, seemingly after a Windows Update. Outlook 2003 hangs, IE7 hangs, BSODs, trouble installing software, error messages with references to audio drivers not working even though the sound is fine, etc. No locusts or plague yet, though. A few error messages have referenced MISEXEC.EXE, e.g., after an attent to run 'Detect & Repair' in Office 2003. Also get "cannot read/write to memory address 0x...' messages on startup and during use of IE7. My OS is XP Pro, Version 5.1.2600 SP2 Build 2600. I have searched the Knowledge Base and seen some older issues with MSIEXEC.EXE, but no…

I'm new to Vista. When I import pictures from my camera using windows all pictures in the Pictures folder are format .jpe and are very small (about 25 - 30 KB). The actual pictures on the camera are jpg and are full size (about 1200KB). Why don't the full pictures download? If I edit these tiny pictures, have I lost the full pictures? Sam
