I want to use the new start menu but all my start menu folders aren't under the Programs folder. So, when I click All Programs the folders display but they don't open when I click or double click them. Do I need to drag all these menus to Programs or is there a way around this?? Any help will be appreciated, James

Hello People, My physical computer and O.S. (XP Pro) are fine, and when I launch several other virtual machines-no problem. But when I try to launch a domain virtual controllor machine I get a bunch of different errors, usually NTLDR is corrupt or can't find \windows\system32\config\system or unkown disk related errors. Also get the same errors on a Vista box. I've reinstalled several times, nothing in the BIOS changes anything, I've run out of ideas, help. Hans

Does XP benefit from Dual-Core technology's ability to multi-thread and other multi-core technology ??? If so, what performance changes could be expected over a single core CPU ??

I have Windows 2003 R2 SP2. I have installed the FSRM component from Add/Remove program. I can run the storage report without any problems. But whenever I try to create a quota or file screening template, I get an error message "The Quota Management Filter Driver Service or File Screening Filter Driver service is not running". FSRM service is running and I have stop/start several time but no luck. I also have uninstall/reinstall the FSRM component serveral time but keep getting the same error message. I have run fltmc and confirm that Quote and Datascrn filter are installed. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'm trying to find two servers that disappear intermittenly from my network neighborhood. I found documentation on using the browstat command. When I type "browstat view \device\netbt_tcpip \\masterbrowser | findstr /i missingerver" (substituting the real server names for masterbrowser and missingserver) I receive no output and it goes to a new command line. Is there something I'm missing with this syntax here? Even If I try a server that isn't missing I still get no output. Currently running XP Home Ed. Sp2 Wanted to repair my installation, but inadvertently hit clicked to upgrade. My computer is now stuck in a loop and won't complete the upgrade. I get a message that the signature is invalid and error 426 and it halts and reboots to the same place. The installation requests files that are not on the reinstallation cd that came with the computer. How can I terminate the upgrade?

O.K. I had a thread that said I was having problems with opening control panel and preferences and windows update in VISTA. Thanks to all of you for your help. Nothing worked. Here's what I did. I went into "computer" then clicked on "control panel" on the LEFT pane. It opened only in the left pane. I was able to access the preferences. I was able to access "windows update" I updated. This is not a solution to the problem, but you can at least get in somehow. Try it. I really hope Microsoft will find a fix for this problem. Please Microsoft find a fix! BarbLynne

Gents, Have 2 users running XP Pro SP2 and they have the same problem. Tried stopping windows update service and renamed %windir%\SoftwareDistribution folder and restart windows update service. Problem went away on Friday 10/12 but it's back today 10/15. Anybody got a permanent fix to this? Thanks Frustrated in NYC

xp sp2 Tried find file dsi.dll with win explorer = no luck so ran 'search' and found four entries. RT clicked each then clicked version till found one with the #'s I knew to be latest win installer - fine. Problem = tied 'search again' = no entries now. Why not? Thank you. -- Grampy Pete

Hi i have a wireless connection problem if anyone can help. Ever since i first connected to the wireless network in college my wireless will not connect to any other network properly, although it says it is connected the page will come up as cannot be displayed in internet explorer. This only occurs when trying to connect to a network other than that in college. The connection works perfectly on campus.

Does anyone know this problem on vista? "You cannot log on because the logon method you are using is not allowed on this computer. " I cannot log into local admin as well.

On some web pages I read that the normal way of creating such a compressed folder would be either by using the Windows Explorer or the context menu and choose the entry File->New->Create (compressed) folder. Unfortunately this menu entry does not exist on my WinXP system How can I re-create it ? Is there another way of creating a zip folder ? BTW: Can I select the zip compression rate (as in separate zip tools) or is this fixed built-in ? Frank
