Hey, on my computer (winxp pro, no domain) local policy keep clearning out users. The policy is: Local Policies > User Rights Assignment > Access this computer from the network. The system keeps removing all users so I cannot access the computer from the network. I did a policy audit and it appears to be that the computer account computername$ removes policy users. Is there a way to know what process initializes this? Or a way to stop it? Bugs me every time I have to add users back in order to access the computer. Anybody have any ideas?

The icons in my system tray were grayed out and didn't work -- when I right-clicked on them, I got the standard toolbar menu instead of the one for that program. One or two was in color and worked, but the rest didn't. When I rebooted, they were just fine. What happened here?

I have having an issue with the title of this post. I have multiple IP addresses configured on my server, and when I go to create my smtp virtual server, it doesn't allow me to configure any of these IP's, only the loopback and unassigned all. I have tried editing and adding in the general tab advanced menu, but nothing. I must be missing something taht would enable these addresses to be used for this. Pleas help. Thanks - Nik

When I ask for a restart (icon) windows will shut down as normal, but that is as far as it will go. The power button stays on and it doesn't complete it's task. Left it that way for a couple hours - nothing. You can use the power button to turn off and back on from that state. The "you need to restart your computer" when doing updates works fine. The shut - down icon works normal. This started a couple weeks ago. Haven't installed any new programs and everything else seems to work fine. Computer about 11 months old. Media Center Edition 2005 A fix ??? Thanks in advance

Just installed Nero 8 Ultra. Windows XP video decoder checkup utility shows that I have DVD and Video decoders, but they are not compatible with synchronization features of Windows Media Player 10. I assume this also means Media Player 11. The DVD drive I am using is the BenQ DW800A with BC37 firmware and Microsoft driver 5.1.2535.0. Should Windows Media Player still play a DVD even though decoders are not compatible with synchronization feature and why does the drive not recognize a DVD, but will a CD? Is Microsoft driver the correct driver for the DVD drive?

I tried to add a custom paper size to my printer(s) by going to the printer properties and preferences found the stock sizes but could not add a new custom size. Searched the KB found #838298 which said I needed to be a administrator, I'm logged in as the administrator. 838298 went on to say must have SP 2 well I do have SP2. So How do you add a new custom paper size to my printer? Thanks Terry

I don't know what happened. I downloaded some new icons from CrystalXP.com to give the Office 2007 suite a new look for the icons. when I clicked on the access file (ACCICONS) for the shortcut that I wanted to create, all icons that were of type "Application" have this stupid Access icon next to them. This does not affect the functionality of my computer, but it does affect the visuals (I don't read the descriptions, I look at the icons). Any help on how to fix this issue, please let me know. System Restore did not work to a previous time, so don't even recommend it. Thank you! -Simsy512

I deleted accidentially the "My network places" icon on the desktop. With the deletion also the entry in the WindowsExplorer disappeared. How can I recover the icon back again ? Is automatically the entry in WinExplorer re-created as well ? Is there a way to hide the desktop icon but let the entry in WinExplorer be visible ? Thommy
