SOLVED:Vista refuses to 'sleep'
by Guest Hilarious- 0 replies
Yes, it's a solution without a corresponding question. My latest installation of Vista would not sleep on exit as the little bubble said it would. The screen would darken for a moment and then pop right back. All looked untoward in the Power Config window so I used Msconfig to knock out the start-up programs, to disable all services and still the machine would refuse to die. (Safe mode id no use as it has no 'sleep' option...) A return to Power Config, resetting of 'require password on wakeup' to 'Yes' allowed me to see that the machine was indeed sleeping but immediately waking up again, now with the login page up. Staying with Power, I tried various o…

by Guest Victor- 0 replies

Greetings, Just recently, when I move my mouse to stop the screensaver (flying object, a picture of mine), the picture disappears (ok), but then I see an afterimage of an iexplorer window (small). It then takes a while to get back to my desktop. Is there a "screensaver" cache? or someplace else I can clear to get rid of the afterimage? Thanks

Unable to Hibernate
by Guest Joseph Gruber- 0 replies

Hi. I have a new D830 Dell laptop and cannot hibernate. I have 4GB of RAM (3.5 GB visible to the OS). I've installed 909095 but it doesn't seem to have fixed the issue as it has done in the past. I noticed that MS07-022 updates the files that 909095 does with newer versions. Is the hibernate fix included in MS07-022?

Backup wizard does not support passwords ending in a space bar
by Guest Chad Kuester- 0 replies
Using the wizard to scheduling a Microsoft Backup to run later prompts for credentials. If you enter in a space bar, or any password that ends in a space bar, a dialog box will appear with the title called "Scheduling" and the message "The password entries do not match." Entering in the same password without a space bar at the end will work. Using Control Panel, Scheduling then allows you to edit the scheduled task with the correct password ending in a space. -Chad

ISA Server 2000 crashing
by Guest rounner@yahoo.com- 0 replies

Our ISA server has been crashing. The event logs indicate some sort of connectivity issue. I am told ISA will do this if it loses connectivity but that sounds pretty extreme for simply losing a connection. Can anyone confirm if ISA server 2000 on Server 2000 will crash just because it loses its LAN connection? Thanks.
