Hi, I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I am running a MSI K9n SLI Platinum motherboard and have set up a four drive RAID on it which I use for my software. I have also tried to add my Highpoint Rocket RAID 1720 PCI SATA II 2 channel controller Everything works fine except the Highpoint RAID controller. It has the latest bios installed, and it worked perfectly with Vista ultimate 32bit. Now, with Vista Ultimate 64bit, when I configure the RAID I get an error message saying: "no enough space to copy PCI Option Rom [00:00:00]" and "no enough space to copy PCI Option Rom [00:01:01]" can someone please help me?

Search Companion has apparently stopped searching folders and sub-folders. For example, a search for *.exe, on hard drives C and F, returned a total of six finds located on C: and F:. The search was for all Folders and files, and the search settings are default.

I have a network of 20 computers. We are using Office 2003 sp2 or sp3. About 5 of them are experiencing issues when opening files (word, excel, power point, TXT, PDF, ETC). When a user opens a file though My Documents it doesn't matter if it's over the network or local. It can take 2-3 minutes for the file to load and show. If the user opens Word, Excel, Notepad, or Adobe though a shortcut (without a file) and then goes to file -> open & chooses a file it will open regularly. The computers are identical to the ones w/o issue. They are 3.2gHz 1gb ram. WinXP SP2, The Server is Win03 SP1. Any advice?

I work in a school environment and have many labs and each lab has different model computers. I would like to configure a user profile that will load based on the computer they are logging into and have that profile locked so that they cannot update or change anything. I have created GPO's that disable the ability to change the backgrounds and save, removed Picture and Fax viewer from displaying the ability to set an image as a background when the kids right click on it and have disabled the context of Internet Explorer so that the students cannot right click on an IE page and set that image as a background. But somehow, they still manage to find a way or the t…

When upgradeing from XP to Vista home premium ITouch was not removed and the Logitech uninstall will not work (Our software will not run on this machine). This is preventing me from installing a new keyboard (Microsoft) since the install sees ITouch as a conflict and stops. I have sent messages to Logitech describing the problem but they not answered in over a month and a half, other than the automatic response that says they will respond in 24 hours. Has anybody anybody out there got an answer? -- Retired and still learning

Hi I am in the process of updating/migrating our home brew Document management system from netware to microsoft. In the process I we ( the development team) realized that microsoft has a technology that would provide a feature similar to novell's "salvage file" feature. This is a huge part of our application and is a major plus for our end users. My question is, is there any client side api for returning the "previous versions" of a file so that I can list them within our application? i'm looking for functionality that is similar to the "previous version" tab that is available through the client side file properties dialog. Thanks in advance.

I am trying to use 'search companion' to find duplicate files in jpg picture folders to delete to save disk space. Searching for known files in known folders, the 'search companion' will not show any results. IS there a repair for this? There is a file "xp_fix_search_error.vbs" that when run will fix this problem after I reboot but it only is a tempory fix. After using 'search companion' a few times it won't find known files anymore. -- Plastic Man

The diagram below depicts the scenario. A level 1 folder contains an access db. This db automatically creates the level 2 & 3 folders. I want users to be able to use the db to create the level 2 & 3 folders, but once created, I do not want them to be able to delete, move, or rename the folders. They should, however, be able to add files to the level 2 & 3 folders, as well as edit/rename/modify/change any file in these folders. Is this possible? What would the permissions be? Level 1 Folder |_____ Level 2 |_____ Level 3 |_____ Level 3 |_____ Level 2 |_____ Level 3 |_____ db.mdb (Users are using Windows XP SP2.......I can only guess tha…

Hello, I have a customer desiring the installation of IE 7 and Windows Desktop Search to his 2003 terminal servers. The customer profile environment is creative in that he has ntuser.man files retained within roaming profiles. The AD environment is 2003. We have IE 7 installed, but on the initial launch by the user the home paged defined within the GPO (IE 7 inetres.adm applied) does not appear. Instead the marketing page for Windows IE appears. How might we circumvent the IE 7 marketing page, and receive the home page as defined by the IE 7 GPO applied to the container? Windows Desktop Search presents a configuration window for each test sessio…

Hello, I have two DC running Windows 2000. I have gone through the steps to prepare the 2000 servers for two new 2003 DC's. There were no problems with the preparation of the 2000 servers or the installation/promotion of the new servers. I have DNS installed and I am in the process of copying the DCHP and WINS databases to the new servers. We have over 100 thin clients over a very large geographical area that do not use DHCP so what I would like to do before I decommission the 2000 servers is to change the IP addresses of the new servers to the old servers and visa versa. Does anyone know if there are any problems with doing this? -- Rich
