Hi, I have installed a new Win2K3 - R2 Server as member server of the domain with roles of File Server and Print Server. We have folder share for users on the server and all users are mapped to this share. Folders have rights as per different groups and users. The problem is that sometimes the response for users accessing the files on the server is very slow. Its fine normally, but suddendly the access to any file or while saving it hangs for sometime and gets back normal. There are no sort of errors in the event viewer or any sort of performance issue. I have enabled the File screening option to block audio, video and installer files as per buil…

Hi all, I have a problem for slow auto logon without any domain (just a workgroup) for running in Fujistu P7230 notebook. After loading the personal setting, it has to wait almost 1 minutes to load the desktop icons. I have tried to delete the profiles and use other accounts to auto logon and it still does not help. My method for auto logon is change the registry key to autoadminlogon key to 1. And if my machine does not has any slow problems if I do not set any auto logon. Please advise. Thanks, Ivan

Here's a quote " Then how come I'm so much more at home with Ubuntu than Vista? It boils down to one abiding impression: Ubuntu goes out of its way to get out of your way, even if it doesn't succeed all the time. Vista goes out of its way to be Vista and enforce the Vista way. You must conform regardless of the implications." This is why Linux users want Linux. Read the rest here http://community.zdnet.co.uk/blog/0,1000000567,10006217o-2000331777b,00.htm caver1

Xbox 360 Arcade (Credit: Crave.cnet.com) With Microsoft's announcement of the Xbox 360 Arcade, the anticipated device looks to be changing how the Xbox targets consumers. According to a Microsoft representative, the company feels that "the timing is right to really focus and turn the spotlight on our family content and yeah, we feel great.? Believe it or not, Microsoft has inked a deal with Warner Bros. to bring HD Looney Tunes to the Xbox Live Video Marketplace, and games designed with children in mind will be coming down the pike with the help of this new console. And while I applaud Microsoft for making the jump to children's games and attempting to at…

Does anyone really want me? And just when you thought there couldn't possibly be any more different trim lines for the Xbox 360, Microsoft goes and releases the worst kept secret in all of gaming, the Xbox 360 Arcade. While it's essentially just a souped-up version of the Core, the Arcade 360 does come with a few extras that may attract some uninformed buyers. Plus, the $280 price tag is awfully close to the Wii's cost of $250--so in theory, speaking in terms of price, an Xbox 360 Arcade would be the logical alternative to a Wii this holiday season. So what does it come with? Bundled inside you'll find a wireless controller, unlike the Core's original wired offeri…

Hello all, We moved office and onto a new (larger corporate) windows domain. But a bunch of our computers are very slow to transfer files around between PCs (someone noted they are all slightly older Dells), while others are lightning fast. What are some of the things I should look for in determining what the issue could be here? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! DeanB
