Azure DNS Private Resolver topologies
by Guest stephaneeyskens- 0 replies

Introduction Before diving into Azure DNS Private Resolver (ADPR), let's go back in time a little bit, to understand its value. Before ADPR, companies that had to deal with hybrid DNS resolution, had to host custom DNS servers in Azure. They were mostly hosting at least a pair of DNS servers, or extending their Infoblox (or similar technology) in the Cloud. The reason why this had to be tackled that way was due to the fact that DNS zones in Azure could not be used as forwarders (still today), and Azure DNS itself is only reachable from within an Azure Virtual Network. In mid 2023, most production setups are still making use of custom DNS servers in Azure. …

Optimizing Log Throughput Consumption on Azure SQL: Effective Workarounds and Best Practices
by Guest KapilSamant- 0 replies

Introduction SQL DB, SQL Managed Instance (MI), and SQL Hyperscale in Azure have a hard log throughput limit. This limit defines the maximum rate at which transaction log records can be written to disk. When the log throughput reaches this limit, it can impact the overall performance of the database and cause delays in transaction processing. To avoid reaching this cap, it is essential to actively monitor and optimize the workload and choose the most appropriate service tier. This guarantees the capacity to effectively handle the necessary log throughput specific to your application's needs. But if you have done everything that is possible to reduce the l…

Support tip: Troubleshooting unexpected reboots during new PC setup with Windows Autopilot
by Guest Intune_Support_Team- 0 replies

By: Juanita Baptiste – Sr Product Manager | Microsoft Intune When a user powers on their PC for the first time, the ideal scenario for Windows Autopilot deployments is that it connects it to their network to log in and automatically provisions itself while the user has little to do to complete the setup. It may take some time to download and install all the programs and settings, but the user only needs to sit back and let the magic happen. If you’re not getting this "ideal experience", especially if the user must enter their credentials repeatedly, there's a good chance it's because the device is unexpectedly rebooting at some point during start up and the …

KQL best practices for joins and filters For Power BI developers but not only Summary Many users who try ADX in direct query mode encounter errors right away. The errors complain about lack of memory. If the tables are small enough, it may work but still performance will not be as advertised on TV. The reason in most cases is the behavior of joins in ADX as they are created by PBI. In this article I’ll show different approaches to joining tables as used by PBI for related tables or as can be expressed in KQL in general. Introduction Azure Policy enables an organization to enforce standards and assess compliance against regulatory requirements. In general, there are four main Azure Policy objects. A Policy Definition describes the conditions under which it is enforced. This Azure Policy object has no effect until it is assigned. A Policy Set can bundle Policy Definitions that are related. Again, this Azure Policy object has no effect until it is assigned. A Policy Assignment assigns a Policy Definition or Policy Set on a specific scope.
