I have to use the on screen keyboard, but on some sites when I click on to type info or whatever, I lose my keyboard. I know that some programs (WMP) won't let use the on screen keyboard. Is my problem just with certain sites, or can I lock my screen to stay on? Thanks -- Budd

I bought a laptop with a HDMI connection to make things easier for me when I'm watching movies on the TV. When I connect the HDMI cable to the TV Vista detects it and automatically extends the desktop to the TV just like I want it to. The sound however is still coming from the speakers on the laptop until I change the default audio device manually in the audio properties (it's realtek HD Audio by the way). Is there any way to make Vista understand that also the audio output should be switched to HDMI automatically whenever I connect the cable? If not, how do I go about making some kind of executable or regfile that I just can doubleclick when I want to use…

Windows (XP Home SP2) shuts down with an 0x0000007e stop error when I eject a data CD from my DVD/CD-ROM drive. Windows error report came back that this is "driver related". It advised checking mfg (Toshiba) for driver and/or BIOS updates, I found none on their not-too-helpful web site. I uninstalled the Canon Camera software I had installed since the last time my CD was OK - this didn't help. I made sure windows was updated. But, when I ran msconfig - selective startup - I found that deselecting tfswctrl.exe in the STARTUP tab prevents the error. This tfswctrl.exe program is from Sonic Solutions: "Drive Letter Access Component" and, I believe…

I'm having trouble with a flickering or bouncing cursor, as is a friend who bought a laptop from the same company but a different model. It's not the jumping thing. (If you're reading this looking for a solution, look in Control Panel and turn off your touchpad, or "{ } Turn off touchpad when USB mouse is present." My problem is the blue circle flickering/wavering/quivering. Sometimes this happens, I think maybe after waking up, but I'm not sure if that's true in all cases. I've tried re-installing drivers on Vista and my Logitech mouse but no go. Anybody having the same problem?

I have a Dell that had XP and upgraded to Vista. Everything is fine - except - the updates don't ALL work, some do, some don't. When I go to the usual help, it says "update". DUH! That's a catch 22. Can anyone help? Ask me anything to help.

For my web app, I wanted the shortdate format to be "M/d/yy" instead of the default "M/d/yyyy" for all users, especially anonymous users (IUSR). On my Win2K server that was easily accomplished by changing the registry HKUsers/.Default/ControlPanel/International/sShortDate setting. However, I migrated to Win2003, made those changes to the registry (and also via the Control Panel for just one user I guess) and it does not ever take effect. Is there a way to change the default format for ShortDate for all users with Win2003 after the machine is already set up? Thanks for any help.

hi there, The error 1202 SceCli keeps coming up on the machine. Through the search of the trouble source, winlogon.log indicates that an account "Everyone" has neither acocunt name nor security-id. I look for "Everyone" in gpt*.*, but nothing is found. During the maintenance of Windows 2000 (MUI in Swedish) workstation, I created once this extra user name in security permissions in order to delete one of legacy_driver keys. My slow brain tells me later that "Alla" must stand for "Everyone" in Swedish. As far as I'm concerned the key which includes a security name "Everyone" has been removed. So, where I can look for so as to correct this error? TIA, wa…
