We have some remote users that are using a remote dekstop connection to access our company network. On the TS there is a VPN connection to an off-site AS400. If you sit at the TS machine you can use the VPN fine but if you remote to the machine the VPN will not connect. Is this something that is not allowed or does anyone have a suggestion how to correct the problem? Thanks!

Hello to all, I have some serious problems with the WUA on my PCs. It always appears the svchost.exe error message (The detailed error is: "unknown software exception" (0x000001d)) We have already made the following steps to solve the problem: - Installed the Microsoft KB927891 Update - Updated the WUA to Version 3.0 But the problem was still there. Then I changed the DEP options in the boot.ini file (from noexecute to execute). Now the error doesn't appear, but it's no Solution for the problem itself. I'd be glad for any help! Thank you Michael Brueckler

Does anyone know what these files are ? It's taking up a huge 2,33GB of space. I must assume it's part of the Vista OS, right ? Maybe not, and possibly safe to delete to free up a lot of space.

I have a curious problem with my dialup connection specifically when closing IE. In all previous editions of Windows, when closing IE, a "Do you wish to close your dialup connection" window appeared. On Vista betas and the retail VHP, this window was not present and I assumed that it was dropped in IE-7. However, about 3 months ago, it suddenly reappeared, and clicking yes closed the ISP connection the same as in previous editions. This lasted until about 3 weeks ago, when it again disappeared. This is no big problem, but a little annoying since to close the connection, it is necessary to click the network icon, select "Connect or Disconnect", and …

Hello, I'm using Vista 64 Home Premium and when any program use the save or open dialog Vista always uses a different listing. I mean sometimes details, sometimes, list, sometimes small icons and so on. If I change it then only exactly for that directory it seems Vista can remember my decision. How can I set to always use the "list" view in all program and in all file dialog? Thanks in advance!

I have accidentally removed the games by removing the games components from my computer and I can't get them back by using the add/remove components window. I have gone through the steps of control panel/add-remove windows components/ticked the box for games then pressed next. The computer goes through the process of copying files OK then starts to configure the components but hangs up when it gets to "completing configuration of management and monitoring tools" it then goes to "finish" without completing what it was doing, and the games are still not there. I have tries to copy them from the windows XP CD and the same thing happens. Can anyone please help me …

our windows server 2003 64 bit server seems to have lost its CDROM drivers, windows device manager has a yellow q mark over the devices (a DVD ROM and a DVD RW, both IDE) motherboard IDE drivers are ok. On following windows suggestion of uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers are copied but the error "drivers are corrupt or missing" follows. I disconnected the DVD RW but no joy with just the DVD ROM. Indesperation I installed an old Lite On CDROM, same error. There appear to be no updated drivers on microsofts or the manufacturers websites. I tried several of the generic signed CDROM drivers in the windows operating system with the same result. Our workaround i…

I recently had to reinstall Windows XP Professional on my computer. I had lost my product key, so I had to call Microsoft and purchase a replacement key for $10. During installation I entered the new key, and installation continued on as normal. Now comes the time to activate Windows. When I try to activate, I get the message "Incorrect Product Key". I call Microsoft to activate over the phone and explain my situation. I get redirected and redirected, then finally somebody gives me a case number and a new number to call.
