Hi all, We automate the outlook profile using outlook.exe /importprf \\UNC\outlook.prf through group policy logon script. So, whenever the users log on, the outlook opens up. If we do not want outlook open automatically (ust configure outlook profile) when users log on, is there a way to accomplish this? Thank you.

Believe it or not Epson has finally released a driver for this scanner that has 64-bit drivers. The file is listed as Windows Vista 32-bit Edition epson12204.exe - 20MB - posted on 02/15/07 but it in fact has 64-bit drivers included in the package and I have installed it on my XP x64 system. I also installed the drivers on my XP Pro system. So, even though it claims the package is for Vista 32-bit it seems it alos works on XP 32-bit & 64-bit.

I am using Windows Vista Premium on a new laptop with a factor install. Ever since I got the machine, I get a frequent error message when I try to access web sites or web content (all kinds of sites accessed through IE7 or AOL broadband). The message is really annoying because, in most cases, it does not stop you from loading the content, after you say "no" to the question "do you want to debug". In SOME cases, it will NOT load the content even after you say you do not wish to debug. I want to suppress this message (it obviously serves NO purpose as it appears regardless of the secured content or location. It usually happens when a picture or othe…

This machine and its pre-installed Samsung hard drive is barely 3 years old. I've been checking the error logs for XP and I've started to see the following error event. According to the log it is listed from 17/10/2007, through to 5/11/2007, though curiously it isn't listed on the 3/11/2007, so either I wasn't logged on that day or the error never occurred. I have no other drive-related errors logged other than this one: Event ID - 51 - An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk0\D I have the 160Gb drive partitioned into 6. These errors always seem to refer to partition D. Now, I've searched and searched the Web for this, trying to find possible solutio…

Hi, I have AVG installed for my virus protection (no other virus protection is installed). Security Center does not alert me when my virus protection is out-of-date, even though it is setup to send alert. Only the AVG icon alerts me when it is out-of-date. Security Center always states AVG is up-to-date. Does anyone know how to fix the issue? Thanks, Bob

I did an update for Windows XP on my Gateway laptop and by mistake the laptop was closed. The other user logged onto the computer with no problem no realizing an update was in progress. The other user shut-down the computer and know it is left on the Windows blue screen statin "installing update (1-1)" and then flips the the screen "do not unplugged or turn off computer it will log off automatically". Last time this happened the computer was shut down by the user and the computer crashed. Can anyone help me or will i have to shut the computer down manually because this has been trying to update for atleast 12 hours. Thanks

I get different results for some of the group policy values between gpedit.msc and secpol.msc on Windows 2003. Do the tools look in different places / what's the difference? Thanks!

When I copy a big file(e.g.,200 MB) file from harddisk to usb key, in Windows XP, "copy c:\bigfile g:" will not return immediately, while in Windows 2000, "copy c:\bigfile g:" returns immediately. My question: I want to let "copy c:\bigfile g:" do NOT return immediately in Windows 2000. In anther word, I want it retunes only when the data is actually copied to USB Key. Is it possible? Thanks!

All the files written over the summer to an external FAT32 USB HD now have time stamps that are an hour later. Even those with time stamps in January 2007. The files were copied over using cpio -pdm under Cygwin under XP Home, so as to preserve their time stamps. The bug might be almost anywhere; perhaps in Cygwin, perhaps in XP, or maybe it's an old bug in XP that's been fixed and a counterfix in Cygwin hasn't been removed. As a start, does FAT32 get the file timestamps right on its own? Or do all files change their times by an hour when there's a time change? -- rhhardin@mindspring.com On the internet, nobody knows you're a jerk.
