Screensaver vs reboot
by Guest NH- 0 replies

Since last month, our computers doesn't restart when we need remote reboot. We have to move the mouse and then, restart begin (Windows shutdown then reboot). Like it is mentionned in article 938204, we deactivated CTRL+ALT+DEL at startup with GPO but we have to keep screensaver for administration and security purpose. Is there an update to correct that problem or any "hidden" solution ?

Service interaction with desktop

Hi, I have an application that can run as a service and places monitoring screens on the desktop. This service accesses document images stored on another server. When run under the local service account the service starts, the monitoring tools start on the desktop but it obviously cannot access the images on the network. When I use another account to start the service (an account with network access) the service does not initialize properly and the desktop monitoring tools do not start. This problem even occurs whether I use a domain admin account or local admin account. The accounts I have tried have the right to logon as a service granted to them so that …

Leopard--the future of the OS market. (Credit: CNET Networks) As many of you are aware, I think Windows Vista is a blunder. And with its annoying UAC system and horrifically slow operation, it won't take long before the majority of home users agree with me. If the recent figures showing Mac OS X is already gaining market share is any indication of the future, look for Leopard to outsell Vista by a staggering margin. Simply put, Mac OS X Leopard is one of the most significant operating system achievements we have witnessed in years. Not only does it add functionality that Microsoft could only have dreamed of, it does so in a snappy environment that doesn't annoy you…

In the study, a group of telemarketers was asked to play a game before their shift started. Hello, As a test of our backups, I need to do a bare-metal restore of a Windows server using a full backup taken with NTbackup. Presuming that I'm restoring to a server with identical hardware and drive layout, can I do the following: - install Windows 2003 with the same service-pack level into a different Windows directory, e.g., c:\winrestore and into no domain - run NTbackup and select to restore everything on all drives and the system state, with the option to restore over any existing files - reboot the server after the restore completes. The server is just an application server in a domain it's not a DC or anything like that. I'm thinking that sh…
