When attempting to install "Copy Center", for the Epson Perfection2480 Limited Edition Photo Scanner, The Setup.exe file attempts to start, then stops. This app integrates with the Epson Smart Panel, and worked OK in the past. The software was written by Newsoft Inc. Tech rep there says an XP security update is probably blocking the installation. All the other functions of the scanner work as they should, just can't copy direct to printer. Has anyone else encountered a similar problem? How can it be resolved. Is there a way to install an app without using the InstallShield Windows Installer? Can Windows updates be reversed? System Restore doesn't help. A…

After installing a new (print)server with Windows 2003 server (Enterprise Edition R2) with sp2 we observe the next problem. When sp2 is installed a number of printer queues got the status ‘offline’, and the printjobs are no longer processed. When however snmp on the standard tcp-ip port is gedisabled the print queue gets the status online again, and it works fine. The printjobs are printed again. I’ve searched through the knowledge base, but no real solution for this found. I also searched on the Internet but found no useful result for us, they all advice to disable snmp on the tcp-ip port. To disable snmp on tcp-ip ports on our infrastructure is no option…

Hi Yesterday i've installed SQL Server 2005 on a Windows Server 2003 runing Terminal Services with Licence Upgrade. Until Yesterday everything was working OK. This cliente have 3 remote acesses and LPT matricial printers that they need to use. Well after installing SQL Server 2005 every LPT printer seased to work. They are mapper (or redirected) Ok, we can even change settings. But if you press "print test page" the system says "Printer Selected is Invalid" and if try to print on the server the error is "Test page fail to Print". I've already reinstalled printer drivers both on server and remote PC. Thanks in advance -- nuno nunes

I'm trying to change location of offline files from c: to d: simply because I got more space in d: I've googled this and so far this link (http://forums.microsoft.com/ TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?postid=1583612&siteid=17) has been the most useful. However, there are 2 methods described. One is to delete existing csc and point to a new location. The other one is to do a regedit. (see below) Which is the best and safest way to do it? Thanks. Notes: Method 1: 1. Disable offline files 2. Reboot Vista in safe mode command prompt only 3. Delete the CSC folder in the systemroot (usually C:\windows) 4. Create a symbolic directory link pointing to another lo…

This advice is dangerous! I did this on my system and ended up with two Plug and Play Enumerators in my list of devices. My system was largely put out of action by this, and I had to run System Restore to recover. So be careful! In any case, a more likely explanation is that your 'Windows Audio' service is not running.
