by Guest Tom Reidn- 0 replies

Hello, in my Layout.ini are many entries, which refer to files, which are neither necessary for boot nor the function of programs /OS (i.e. my music files on a separate partition). Because WinXP tries to arrange the files according to the layout.ini, i wanted to know, if it is possible to deactivate prefetching for several directories / partitions? Thanks in advance for your suggestions Tom

Is there a way to force DOSPrint to only use one printer tray moreover, I wish to set the printer so that printing stops if paper in the one tray I wish to use is empty. For example, if I only wish to use Tray 3 in the printer and the paper runs out, the printer does not automatically select another tray to continue printing. I only want the above setting to take affect while printing from DOS applications. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Vista's mklink for XP?

As some of you may know, NTFS reparse points have all that is needed to implement file symlinks on Windows XP: http://wesnerm.blogs.com/net_undocumented/2006/10/symbolic_links__1.html As you can see in that blog entry, there is utility called "fsutil": http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/fsutil.mspx?mfr=true that explotis that. However, I was wondering if there is any "simpler" utility besides fsutil to do that? Here's why I ask, in case you have something to suggest: I work (among other things) in an open source project. We use svn and most developers are linuxers. I was assigned the task of porting t…

Looking for a Video Tag Editor/Cataloger
by Guest Xaos- 0 replies

There are various MP3 Tag Editors & Catalogers around, but I am looking for a program that allows me to edit the tags on a Video File. I have a lot of MPEG-2, WMV and other video formats that I would like to edit the Tag information. If the program was good at organizing and cataloging, that would be great too. Thanks in advance for your suggestions! Chaz

Processor Queue Length
by Guest BigSam- 0 replies

The processor Queue Length on one of my domain controllers varies from 5 to 15+. My monitoring service has a maximum setting of 7, meaning that everything above that vaule creates an alert for me to handle, but every time it occurs I don't see anything performance issues on the server. However, I don't know what is causing the queue length to get so large. Can someone tell me what to monitor, so that I can isolate the problem? Thanks
