Lesson Learned #253: Retry Logic for Execution Timeout Expired
by Guest Jose_Manuel_Jurado- 0 replies

Today, I worked on a case that our customer faced an execution command timeout "Msg -2, Level 11, State 0, Line 0 - Execution Timeout Expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding" As this business process is running over the night and they need to ensure that the execution will be completed, they asked if there is possible to implement an Execution Retry Logic. In the similar way that we have for Retry-Logic for Transient Failure We could implement a similar mechanism to retry the operation, the only thing that we need is to change the commandTimeout parameter, for example, in .NET. As you …

Bring your own Event Hubs to programmatically interact with Microsoft Purview
by Guest Naga_Yenamandra- 0 replies

Microsoft Purview Data Map is based on Apache Atlas and extends full support for Apache Atlas APIs as well as Atlas Kafka topics. In order to support Kafka functionality, Purview provisioned a managed event hub namespace and two managed event hubs 'atlas_hook' and 'atlas_notification' to send and receive messages from Purview. However, this approach had multiple limitations listed below: 1. You cannot modify the configuration of these managed event hubs. For example, every managed event hub is configured with 1 TU and as a customer, you don't have the ability to increase TU's. The same applies to other configurations like retention period, consumer group, etc. 2…

Managed Attributes for Microsoft Purview data catalog is now GA
by Guest Naga_Yenamandra- 0 replies

All the technical properties for a data asset are ingested and populated in Purview's data map during the scanning process, and are then available for discovery using the data catalog application. These properties include file names, table names, data types, size, etc. However, organizations often require additional context to be populated on data assets. This context is specific to the organization and also differs based on the nature of the data. For example - An organization 'Adatum Corporation' would like to have additional properties of 'Cost center' and 'Profit center' on all their financial data sets which are stored in Azure Data lake Gen 2, whereas they would li…
