Robust data ingestion with High-watermarking
by Guest MarcoCardoso- 0 replies

Continuously copying data from its source to a new location is very common - backups, high availability, and analytics are just a few examples of why you would do so. But as data grows, making a full copy every time becomes impractical - copying terabytes of data requires time, compute, and networking resources, all of which increase the total cost of ownership of a solution. So, in most cases, it makes sense to load data incrementally - meaning, only what you need - each time you run the synchronization process. In this article, we discuss a common technique for incremental data loading, called High-watermarking. What is High-watermarking? High-wat…

We got a new customer service request where they got the following error message: The database 'UserDB' has reached its size quota. Partition or delete data, drop indexes, or consult the documentation for possible resolutions. We found that database reached it's size limit (1024GB) with Space Used 1023.253 GB. After analyzing these two links Lesson Learned #150: Calculating the space used by table and per column - Microsoft Community Hub and Lesson Learned #227: How much data is using my database per table - Microsoft Community Hub and we didn't find that might be related with PVS, so, the immediate option is to increase the SLO to give you more available space …

Currently, a PostgresSQL flexible server doesn't support Azure Private Link. Instead, it uses virtual network injection to make the flexible server available within a virtual network. While Azure Private Link is on the road map, today, to access Azure PostgreSQL flexible server from an Azure Data Factory VNET using a private endpoint, the following architecture and steps can be adopted. Note: Similar setup can be done for accessing PostgreSQL Flexible Server from an Azure Synapse Analytics Managed Vnet. The architecture and steps follow the tutorial provided in the documentation link below with minor changes specific to PostgreSQL Flexible s…

Content Search for Targeted Collection of Inactive Mailbox Data
by Guest The_Exchange_Team- 0 replies

Inactive mailboxes in Exchange Online are a vital part of the Microsoft Purview Data Lifecycle Management capabilities. They offer a low/no-cost and versatile way of retaining mailbox data according to your organization’s requirements. At times, though, it’s necessary for an inactive mailbox and/or its data to be moved to a user-accessible state. In those cases the options for retrieval include three methods: Recover, Restore or export with content search. Each method involves its own tools and procedures. Which one is best depends, again, on your organization’s requirements. The recover and restore methods are relatively straightforward; most Exchange administrators are …

From Azure Architecture Why spend time on security of Machine Learning solutions? Machine learning (ML) technology exposes a new type of attack surface and continues to be an active area for research. As machine learning becomes more embedded into day-to-day activities – think health care, financial transactions, mobile phones, cars, home security systems - we can expect it to become an increasingly attractive target for attackers. Like any software component, machine learning can be vulnerable to cyberattacks and while these types of attacks are not common today that is likely to change as the technology becomes more pervasive and embedded into cr…

Good UAL Hunting In our last blog on this series, Forensic artifacts in Office 365 and where to find them, we spoke about where data relating to Office 365 can be found and which endpoints can be used to effectively conduct a cybersecurity investigation. In this blog post, we will be taking a deeper dive into one of those data sources, the Office 365 Unified Audit Log (UAL). This is a key data source in any cloud investigation because it contains a record of all the activity that has occurred in Office 365 and Azure Active Directory: whether a threat actor adds a new application secret, sets up a mailbox rule, accesses an email message, or joins a Teams call, it …

Debugging PostgreSQL CI failures faster: 4 tips
by Guest naziryavuz- 0 replies

Postgres is one of the most widely used databases and supports a number of operating systems. When you are writing code for PostgreSQL, it’s easy to test your changes locally, but it can be cumbersome to test it on all operating systems. A lot of times, you may encounter failures across platforms and it can get confusing to move forward while debugging. To make the dev/test process easier for you, you can use the Postgres CI. When you test your changes on CI and see it fail, how do you proceed to debug from there? As a part of our work in the open source Postgres team at Microsoft, we often run into CI failures—and more often than not, the bug is not obvious, and req…
