Introduction: GeoJSON files contain various types of geospatial data, such as point, line, and polygon features, as well as metadata and attributes. They can be used for a variety of purposes, such as creating interactive maps, analyzing spatial patterns, and visualizing geospatial data. In this blog, we will discuss how to transform Parquet files into GeoJSON files using Synapse Notebook, which is a workaround since this transformation is not currently supported in the Copy activity in Azure Synapse pipelines. Prerequisites: Basic knowledge in Azure Synapse Analytics. Workspace in Azure Synapse Analytics. Storage account (in this blog, we…

Introduction Hi folks! My name is Felipe Binotto, Cloud Solution Architect, based in Australia. This post is about how you can automate the backup of Block Blob Storage using Azure Backup Vault (not to be confused with Azure Recovery Service Vault). I specifically mention Block Blob because append and page blobs are not supported. By automating the backup process of your Block Blob Storage, you can rest assured that your data is safe and secure in case of unexpected data loss. Before we start, let us look at the solution’s high-level design. High-Level Design The following is a similar HLD (high-level design) I have done for a custome…

To understand the scope of security considerations to have about this resource, you should know that the Integration Account is a specialized storage, it does not do processing. The multi-tenant implementation for XML validation, Flat File encode-decode and transforms, is to host the functionality in Azure Function for isolation. B2B / EDI connectors (AS2, EDIFACT, X12) also using Integration Account have two generations, the first is hosted on a web app, the later is running directly with the Logic App service. The Azure Function fetches from the Integration Account the schemas and maps. Another way to look at this is that the XML payload is not sent to the Integr…

1. What is Tape Backup? In the on-premises world, tape storage is a system in which magnetic tape is used as a recording media to store data. With rapidly growing data volumes, tape storage is the most suitable system for data storage requiring large capacity in the on-premises systems. Tape storage is not used only for backup in case of system failure, but also for archiving data for long-term storage. Tape backup is a term typically applied to old/outdated technologies, but tapes are still being used to back up the data. Many large enterprises like banks, hospitals, telecommunication organizations rely on tapes to ensure important data is securely s…

In the last tutorial, we trained a model, to predict diabetes patient hospital readmission, that we will be using to analyze and identify issues from the Azure Machine Learning’s Responsible AI dashboard. In this tutorial, we’ll learn how to create a Responsible AI (RAI) dashboard with its python SDK. We will show you how to use machine learning tools such as Model Overview, Error Analysis, Data Explorer, Fairness Assessment, Model Interpretability, Casuals and Counterfactuals to discover and solve issues with the model or data. Furthermore, we’ll show how data scientists and stakeholders can better communicate a model’s performance and behavior by using the RAI scorecard…

In this guest blog post, Nic Surpatanu, Chief Product Officer at Tanium, discusses taking control of and securing IT estates and how Tanium works with Microsoft solutions like Azure Active Directory, Defender for Endpoint, and Sentinel. Can you imagine inheriting assets you couldn’t find, only to discover they were hidden behind drywall? Not long ago, I spoke with the CISO of a Tanium customer that had integrated hundreds of thousands of endpoints from an acquired organization. With so many endpoints involved, he initially felt daunted by the task, and for good reason. Discovering assets, assessing device compliance and vulnerability state, fixing gaps, merg…

Today we are excited to announce the public preview of near real-time custom detections in Microsoft 365 Defender. This new frequency will allow you to respond to threats faster with automated responses and gain valuable time in stopping attacks and protecting your organization. Automation is key to keeping up with attackers While Microsoft’s eXtended Detection and Response (XDR) solution helps prioritize response activities and provides a unified experience that allows for more effective investigation at the incident level, the increasing volume and speed of sophisticated attacks remains challenging. That’s why automation is becoming an increasingly impor…

In the first two posts of this series we have developed an Outlook add-in that, using the Open AI models, helps users to generate professional business mails starting from a simple sentence. In the first post, we achieved this goal by directly using the OpenAI APIs; in the second one, instead, we have leveraged the Azure OpenAI service. In both cases, however, we didn't use the model that powers up ChatGPT, because it wasn't available yet at the time of writing, but we leveraged a similar one called Davinci. Since a few days, both OpenAI and Azure OpenAI have finally made available the ChatGPT model, so that developers can integrate it into their experiences. In th…

In a few scenarios, you might need to scale multiple databases on a logical server (not part of elastic pool) at once, the azure portal only allows you to scale each database individually. This can be achieved using the following PowerShell script: just modify the parameters like SubID, the resource group and server name and then pick the service tier you want and run the script: Connect-AzAccount Set-AzContext -SubscriptionId "SubID" $ResourceGroup = "ResourceGroup" $Server = "SQLServer" $edition = "Standard" $ServObjective = "S2" $Databases = Get-AzSqlDatabase -ResourceGroupName $ResourceGroup -ServerName $Server | Where-Object {$_.DatabaseName -…

Whenever I shop online, checking the reviews of the products is a tedious task. Sometimes the low-rated reviews are based on delivery, packaging... whereas a few high-rated reviews might be on cost but not on quality. Generally, reviews/ratings are displayed without any context which results in customers needing additional time and effort to get the most value out of it. Hence, we built this prototype using Azure Open AI to present the consolidated information from all the reviews of a product. We fed all the reviews of a specific product to GPT-3 text-davinci-003 model with a prompt to classify the text based on the three categories – Cost, Quality, and De…

When working with geospatial data in Azure Maps for geofencing or indoor maps purposes, until today, you needed to upload your data directly to our backend services, where Azure maps would store, process, and make it available. However, if you already use Azure and have data in an existing storage account, you no longer need to upload your data again and create a duplicate in Azure Maps. With the new Azure Maps Bring your own storage services, you can now securely register your existing data and give Azure Maps access. Meaning you have all the control over your data, where it is stored, and how it is encrypted, especially where you have requirements that guarantee that yo…
