ConfigMgr Collection Evaluation Analysis The Easy Way
by Guest jonasoh- 0 replies

Hi, Jonas here! Or as we say in the north of Germany: "Moin Moin!" I’m a Microsoft Senior Cloud Solution Architect – Engineering (or short Sr. CSA-E) and in this article I want to talk about ConfigMgr Collection Evaluation. About a year ago multiple customers asked me to analyze their collection evaluation process. Mostly to see if there is anything we could optimize and to speed up the evaluation process overall. In the past I used CEViewer, some SQL queries and the total evaluation time as my tools to analyze the process. But since CEViewer was and is no longer supported, I was looking for a different approach. While the individual evaluation times an…

How to detect, investigate and prevent blob-hunting Why is it important to understand blob-hunting? 1. Exfiltrating sensitive information from misconfigured resources is one of the top 3 cloud storage services* threats, and threat actors are continuously hunting storage objects because it’s easy, cheap, and there’s much to find. Misconfiguration by end-users is a common problem; if you are safe today, there might still be a mistake tomorrow. 3. There are quick and effective ways to harden your s…

Watch out for performance problems due to antipattern queries in SQL
by Guest bobward- 0 replies

Both SQL Server and Azure SQL contain the query_antipattern extended event. The description for the event (from sys.dm_xe_objects) states that it “occurs when a query antipattern is present and can potentially affect performance.” You might be thinking – what is an antipattern? A commonly accepted academic definition is “…a commonly-used process, structure or pattern of action, despite initially appearing to be an appropriate and effective response to a problem, has more bad consequences than good ones.”[1] As it pertains to querying a SQL Server table, one can simply define an antipattern as a query that is written or designed in a way that prevents it from executing t…

No more limits: simpler server onboarding for large deployments
by Guest RyanWillis- 0 replies

Starting today, there's no limit to the number of Azure Arc-enabled servers you can add to a resource group! We listened to your feedback and understood that the previous limit of 5,000 servers per resource group didn't always align with your existing organizational schemes for hybrid and multicloud servers. With this change, you can choose to use a single onboarding script to connect every server to the same resource group, without worrying about partitioning large deployments across multiple resource groups. Looking to get started with a large deployment of Azure Arc-enabled servers? Take a look at the Azure Arc Landing Zone Accelerator to prepare for the deploym…

Detect capture-replay vulnerabilities and exploits with Microsoft Sentinel solution for SAP® applications The Capture Replay Weakness As per MITRE, authentication bypass by capture-replay is a weakness that exists “when the design of the software makes it possible for a malicious user to sniff network traffic and bypass authentication by replaying it to the server in question to the same effect as the original message (or with minor changes)”. These types of attacks are best prevented by encrypting communications, to avoid exposing authentication tokens and other reusable commands.
