I use an older office suite called Arkose Works. The underlying software was previously called Perfectworks and before that Word Perfect Works. I like it because it is simple and doesn't try to mess up your formatting by anticipating what you want to do. The simple database interface is also easy to work with. I also have thousands of files saved in wpw format. The software was designed for win95 and I've used it on 98, win2k and xphomesp1 with no problems. It's also working on a Vista laptop. However, I'm having problems on two xp pro boxes, one a gateway PIII-400 sp2 and the other a Dell P4-2ghz sp3. I have two problems. 1. I create a new do…

We have a desktop (Ultimate) and a laptop (Business). The desktop has a shared folder that is accessed from the laptop. At seemingly random times the laptop suddenly cannot access the share on the desktop machine and so cannot save files back to their original locations. Whenever this happens the desktop needs to be rebooted to make it work again. Also nearly every time the desktop will never shut down and you have to power down manually. Is anyone else having this problem? If so do you know of a fix. Thanks!!! Keith.

My computer has been acting up for two days. The taskbar and desktop appear and disappear randomly, taking with them any computer file I have up, like the Control Panel, or a Search, or whatever. I have attempted malware removal, virus and adware removal, and a sytem restore. Nothing works. I have to use the Task Manager to start programs. When I ask it to run something, though, a Windows popup will say 'The file '/idlist.:0:6034:,' cannot be found (those numbers are random they seem to change every time, but the idlist is correct). Does anyone recognize this problem, and know how to fix it?
