PC 1 Win XP Pro latest updates PC 2 Win XP pro latest updates PC 3 Vista Ultimate latest updates PC1 has a shared drive. PC3 Vista can see it and access it. PC 2 will not see it at all. All firewalls are off on PC2. PC2 sees workgroup of PC1 (but not folders) and PC3 (no shared folders) All PCs have different workgroups All PCs access the internet OK When I try to map PC1 from PC2 it fails. What is going on?

Hi, I am trying to audit when a user deletes a file on a Windows 2003 server. I have setup the auditing so that it records the Successful and Failed attempts of 'Delete Subfolder and Files' and 'Delete'. According to the Event log it now records the deletion of files but also the deletion of the contents of the file e.g. delete the contents of an Excel spreadsheet cell. This is too much detail and I only want the deletion of files or directories recorded. When I select 'Delete Subfolder and Files' only, it doesn't record any deletions. Is there a solution to this or alternative software that can be used. Any help much appreciated. Garry

Lovely. I switched to Vista64 and now I have no SPDIF at all on my X-Fi thanks to crap drivers from Creative. I see they have a beta driver I can try but not sure I want to take the risk. Anyone elose use these beta drivers and know if they fix the no SPDIF on Vista64? SPDIF worked fine on XP and when I had Vista32 it worked fine too because I was using a Chaintech AV-710 at that time. I really need SPDIF working because I connect it to an EMU 0404 external DAC.

Hi: I've a new problem that came up after a system restore last week. Basically, when I read an e-mail or newsgroup announcement that includes a weblink, clicking (or double-clicking) on the link doesn't work! -- I haven't figured out where I can reset Vista Home Premium so that the links will work. For now, there's no way to click on a link and see anything happen. What happened to the setting (or where is the setting) that allows Vista to open a link, as referred to in an e-mail or message? I approved all updates that were not dealing with x64, or Itanium-based systems to a test group last night (6/11/08). This morning, a few laptops lost their audio. One was able to restart and correct itself, but the 'default device' settings were changed in the audio properties of the others. Is anyone aware of this issue? The laptop that was able to restart is a HP6910p with XP, two others have XP, one is an HP Compaq nc6400 and the other I'm not sure of. I have about 420 more computers/servers to approve updates for, and I don't want to approve them and cause myself headaches from user's calls.

I have waded through security for this software to change permission. I have achieved changing ownership to administrator but have lost the thread at changing permission for the object in this case the Program that gives me suffiecient access to that Hkey. I imagine I should be able to gain full control over security of this program to get rid of this message blocking my installation progress but I don't understand the final steps to gain full control.

Hi, I really need reccerts.exe from Microsoft to recover some files. I called support to raise a case (paid for, or using one of my two free TechNet support incidents - don't care) but they won't help until I give them a KB article that references this tool. Where is the control for setting new installations to show up when you press the Start button? I installed a new program a little while back - but it seems to be "stuck"! by that I mean it shows "new program installed" - but these normally stop displaying themselves after a while.. this one isn't ~ just a minor annoyance.. but an annoyance never the less!! thanks. Hi all, I have a problem with my taskbar, every time I minimize a window instead of minimizing itself on the left side next to the start button, it minimizes itself on the right side (next to the clock, and what not). Also whenever I minimize more than two windows I get scrolling arrows in the taskbar, in order to choose among which one to expand? How do I make the windows minimize on the left side? Thanks

okay... WLM has been working fine for the wk or so i have had my HP laptop, although now it is consistently coming up with the "windows live messenger is not working" error message, followed by "windows needs to close the program and will notify you of a solution" However, it will log me in and then log me straight out with this error message. i have been through multiple forums to find solutions, and so far NOTHING has worked.
