Cloud PC users may encounter connection failure when they restarted the Cloud PC after Windows update or suddenly lose connection without obvious reason. These blog troubleshooting steps are not for a special reason of connection failure. It is a general troubleshooting method for users themselves and Cloud PC admins to bring the Cloud PC back online. If users restarted Cloud PC because of Windows feature update, it is reasonable to wait around 30 minutes to get a connection because Cloud PC backend infrastructure needs more time to resume all services for supporting Cloud PC than a regular physical devices restart. End User troubleshooting If a user gets a co…

Last month we took a deep dive into the update powers available to IT teams from Microsoft – including to explain the differences between the solutions on offer. This month we're back to talk about what's new in the service. New Windows Autopatch tenant health status The new ‘Inactive Status' feature is intended to make IT admins' lives easier. To help administrators recognize critically urgent issues that require immediate action, the status of their Windows Autopatch instance will be set to ‘inactive.' Management Summary A disaster exists if a primary side (Region) becomes entirely unavailable due to major outages. Within the region the system is protected by WSFC and redundancy measures from single points of failure. In this example the focus is on the ASCS/ERS functionality. In another Azure region, a second SAP system is built, acting as for example a QAS system. This allows the virtual machines making up this system to be temporarily repurposed for the PRD DR system. This is a very cost-effective measure since there’re no idle machines. Both systems are installed with virtual hostnames. Following SAP Note 1564275, CNAMES should not be used to implement v…

Many of you have been leveraging Azure Load Testing (ALT) to evaluate how your applications respond to high scale load and get actionable insights to fix performance bottlenecks. If you haven’t started yet, you can get started and run your first load test in less than 10 minutes. Azure Load Testing (ALT) provides a unified dashboard of test statistics, client-side metrics, and server-side metrics so that the performance bottlenecks can be easily identified. While the out of the box dashboard is helpful in most scenarios, you might want the load test results to be available in a tool of your choice – You have a dashboard to monitor multiple aspects of service re…

In this post, I will explain how to use custom archetypes of Azure Landing Zones and how to automate this deployment using enterprise landing zones module in terraform Azure Landing Zones are an important aspect of cloud adoption for organizations. They provide a foundation for consistent deployment of resources, governance, and security across an organization's Azure environment. However, out-of-the-box Azure Landing Zones may not meet the specific needs of all organizations. This is where custom archetypes can help us to meet these particular requirements. Custom archetypes are based on the organization's specific needs, such as its industry, regulatory complianc…

Develop Applications that use Sites.Selected permissions for SPO sites. Microsoft Graph APIs have improved consistently over the years. In 2021, one highly demanded feature, Application Only or granular access to individual site instead of whole tenant, was implemented, this scope is called “Sites.Selected”. Initially, for this scope, there are two permission levels that can assigned to the Applications, “read” and “write.” Some customers found there are management tasks cannot be executed with even “write” permission level. To address that, “fullcontrol” and “manage” permission level was added this year. Here are the steps to impleme…

Microsoft aims to make mixed reality accessible and intuitive for frontline workers everywhere. With Dynamics 365 Guides, deskless workers use step-by-step holographic instructions to ensure process compliance, improve efficiency, and learn on the job. In 2022 Teams capabilities were integrated into Guides, allowing users to collaborate with anyone anywhere in the world seamlessly. This enabled calling through the HoloLens 2 – allowing the remote participant (or participants, if on a group call) to “see-what-I-see” through the HoloLens user’s eyes. They can see what is happening in real-time, annotate in their colleagues’ 3-dimensional space, and share relevant fil…

Last September, we announced the deprecation of Client Access Rules (CARs) in Exchange Online. CARs allow admins to control which devices can access their organization's mailboxes. It was introduced in 2017 as a way to provide granular access control based on client properties such as IP addresses, protocol, or application. In October 2022, we disabled CARs cmdlets for tenants that were not using CARs. This was done to reduce the complexity and confusion around CARs and to encourage the adoption of newer and more secure features like Azure Active Directory (AAD) Conditional Access and Continuous access evaluation (CAE). We have been working with customers to learn h…

This post follows Seeking Dead and Dying Servers blog and introduces the Microsoft Defender for External Attack Surface Management (Defender EASM) APIs. You should start with the previous post if you haven't already done so or are brand new to Defender EASM. Defender EASM APIs provide much more capability than the UI (user interface) alone, enabling users to work with large numbers of assets in one action or piece of code. The pro of APIs is they provide an unencumbered interface between the application and the code or app interacting with it to enable exciting capabilities. However, leveraging an API usually involves significant coding work, even for experienced…

I’m excited to announce the integration of Entra Identity Governance Entitlement Management with a very cool technology we recently introduced, Microsoft Entra Verified ID! If you think about what you need to onboard new users including employees, contractors, partners, or other business guests, it often includes verifying identity information and credentials. This process can be tedious and time-consuming, requiring users to fill out redundant online forms or paperwork, ultimately delaying hiring timelines and ramp-up periods. To ease this friction, we previously introduced custom questions and attribute collection in Microsoft Entra Identity Governance …
