Hello, I'm having a little trouble with the Windows Update Agent API (WUApiLib). I've got code working that pulls back a list of updates from Microsoft, but they're specific to the system I'm running the code on. I'm trying to figure out how to get the data for another system. For example, I'd like to run the application on a Vista system and get the updates for a Windows Server 2003 system. I've looked at the ClientApplicationID property of the IUpdateSession object, but it's always null. I saw this post [http://groups.google.com/group/ microsoft.public.dotnet.general/browse_thread/thread/c8e7fc65ca13cdce/ dd31cc88e2543589?hl=en&lnk=st&q=WUApiL…

I get some weird messages about corrupt files when making a backup of files on a network location. I am using DFS. The files are on a virtual location with two domain controllers hosting this location. The files are also replicated to two folders. When backing up throught the network location I get error messages about some files being corrupted. When backing up the same files from one of the folders locally the backup works fine. System w2003. The problem happens as well as making backups on a 2003 server as well as on an XP Professional workstation. Please advise.

Ok, I know that C:>msg is used in vista instead of net send as in XP. I can send myself a message using msg but can't send it my workgrouped computers. Has anyone had any success using msg in a vista and xp mixed workgroup? Messenger services are on in the XP machine already. I am running Vista Ultimate on a Packard Bell Easy Note with 2 Gb memory and dual core processor. I have a problem with a file I copied to my desktop. It was a video file created with my mobile phone and was amongst a lot of files on the storage card which I made a copy of whilst installing a bigger SD card in my phone. I was able to copy from the original sd card to the desktop and then from the desktop to the new bigger sd card without problem but when I tried to delete the copy on my desktop it kept telling me I did not have permission. I eliminated all the files and folders one by one until there was only the one video file left. When I looked into th…

I am operating a Vista Ultimate 64x (version 6 - SP1) operating system with 2GB RAMM, using an AMD dual 64 processor and a 360GB HD There are so many Windows updates that it is really a pain. My problem For some reason when the updates start (I can hear the HD working like crazy) which shows a fleeting notice that it is updating, my system seems to come to a drastic slowdown. While this is happening, when I try and open Internet Explorer 7 it opens and then freezes for sometimes as long as two minutes before the cursor starts blinking and I can access websites. I did a restore to a previous date when I hadn't had this happen and things starte…

Opinion on new Dell XPS m1330 webcam, poor audio, slow, overall opinion-bought June 2008 Vista Web Cam-Terrible:Better frame rates in better light though, but still sub-par performance. Audio: Also such lousy speakers in my new (June 08) XPS 1530. Like an old transistor radio if you are old enough to remember those. No bass, too much treble. Tiny speakers. Saw them when tech replaced my LCD which was broken on delivery. Took him 3.5 hours to replace. A lot of wires and tight fits. LanTray icon: I get a red X for 60 seconds on the network icon in System Tray but can still surf wired or wirelessly. After 60 seconds, red X goes away. Plugging in Ethernet ma…

When I built this computer I used 2 x 320GB hard drives (SATA) in a RAID 0 config. I have Vista Ultimate x64 on 1 partition & Vista Business x86(Freebie from uni) on the 2nd partition - at the time of building it 64bit software & drivers for vista were fairly scarce so I wanted the 32 bit partition. Each partition is about 300GB in size. What I would like to do is format the 32 bit partion & add 200GB of space to the Vista Ultimate partition. After doing that I will put Vista Business back onto the 100GB partition to use as a backup but switch it to the 64 bit version. What steps do I need to take in order to get this done and do I need any …

When I got up this morning, I found "autofileplus-setup.exe" on my computer. A search led me to the information that it's a calculator and data manager for driving. Fine. Wonderful. I didn't ask for it to be on my computer. I have no idea where I might have picked it up. No damage seems to have been done, and it's not listed in programs installed, so I'm deleting it. I'll run my antivirus and antispyware programs before and after deleting it.
