Not sure if this is a Vista issue or an IE one, so please indulge me. When clicking on a download link for a program in IE, the usual box comes up asking if you want to run or save the program. When I click 'save', the box and the IE window instantly closes - when I click 'run', the program downloads and runs normally. I've had a nose around in Defender in case this is the source, but can't find anything relating to it. Might someone have an idea of the cause? Many thanks in advance. Ian --

Hello, The process of activation of a Terminal service licensing server and adding CALs to it is usually very simple and quick. But we have the following issue with a new client who is a part of large AD organization with over 200 DC in many countries. The server is Win 2003 member server set up as a TS Licensing server in enterprise TS mode. Every step of the process of adding licenses - after every click of "Next", takes approximately 30 minutes. When you click on TS Licensing console it takes approximately 30 minutes to open having freezed during that time with a message "Connecting to \\<name of TS licensing server>" where TS licensing serve…

Hi, Folks.... When I connect my Nikon Coolpix S550 camera via usb to my computer, (xp home sp2,) I get a dialog asking me to choose between Scanners and Cameras Wizard and another imaging handling program. Problem is, I don't want either of these two programs to launch by default when the camera is connected I want only Windows Explorer to launch, so that I may treat the camera as just another drive in which to choose which files to transfer. Do I need to edit the Registry to fix this, or is there something else to try. If a registry tweak is called for, can someone please instruct me? I'm familiar with editing the registry. Thanks! Mark

You cannot change properties for CREATOR/OWNER because you are not the creator of the program and you don't own it (you only own the end user licence, not the actual software). To fix this problem doesn't matter if you have UAC on or off. Right click the folder you want to change go into securty, edit then go to your user name and check the modify box. -- breeto ------------------------------------------------------------------------ breeto's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/member.php?userid=51724 View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=756316 http://forums.techarena.in

I have been having the sames problem with Project 2007 and have just solved it. It appears to be a problem with registry keys in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for MSProject there is a solution here:- 'Please help: MS Project 2007 Fresh Install first launch yields Memory error - Microsoft Project' (http://forums.techarena.in/showthread.php?t=833143) NOTE: I did not apply the permissions to the top level keys. This is the second application that has had problems with the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT. Even Microsoft could'nt solve this one for me :-( -- Spider5445 Posted via http://www.vistaheads.com

I have three computers, all XP sp3. Since updating to SP3 the two notebooks do not respond to my P&P Kodak computer when it is plugged into the USB port. The desktop responds as before and recognizes the type camera and will download the pictures. Both notebooks have USB mouse and it works fine. What steps should I follow to correct this? I do not want to install the Kodak Easyshare program and never have on either computer. -- Gerald Ross Cochran, GA Tis better to have loved a short than to never have loved a tall.
