I enabled parental controls, turned off browsing, turned off games. When I start an RDP session Copy & Paste no longer work. If I minimize RDP I can copy & Paste in the browser. Any ideas on where to track down what is disabling copy & paste functions while parental controls are turned on?

Hi, This post is the english version of what I post today on m.p.f.w.v.general entitled "System Tray : sérieux problème d'ergonomie - constatations". I would like to tell Microsoft that I discover some ergonomical glitches that annoy me in my every day use of vista. I now they are small things (compare to all the operating system), but it is really "aggravating" (not sure of the translation ^^) it does not gives a feeling of perfection. Here is my thoughts about 3 errors that should have been detected and that need a correction : -The volume adjustment is horrible when using the keyboard : It is really hard to obtain the desire sound leve…

I have multiple users with dual monitor display settings using the Dell D630. When they try to hot undock (which this model is supposed to be able to do), either by going to the start menu undock button, or by pressing the undock request button on the dock, everything looks like it goes fine until they try to remove the computer from the dock. The new hardware install/uninstall goes crazy, the display flickers, then goes dark. It will sit there with no display until you cold boot the system. Everything is fine after that, but I have users that dock and undock 10+ times throughout the day! Shutting down everytime is just not feasible. I have been on with…

I have this same problem with a D630, and recreating the profile did not help. Dell tells me it is an XP thing. Any ideas? I recently built a new computer for a customer using the Asus P5E-WS Professional Motherboard. As is the case nowadays the board had no parallel port. The customer uses a piece of DOS based engineering software that has a parallel port (LPT1) authentication dongle. I installed a PCI-e adaptor and all appeared to go well however the software wouldn’t read the dongle. The device manager shows the card installed and working but when I went to the show hidden devices in the device manager it shows the parallel port driver cannot start. The event viewer shows The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled device…

Our network seems to be running fine, except that any clients still attached to the server (Windows 2003 SBS on a dual Xeon platform) around 6:00 PM locally lose access to the server. This means they cannot save their work or contact our time card system. The network was set up in late March and we have had no trouble. This has started recently, probably within the last three weeks. There have been no changes made to the network, policies, rights or such since early April. Any and all help would be appreciated.

Using various utilities (Launchy, Google Desktop), I get a five to ten second delay opening various file types (Excel, Word, http links). If I modify the file association and force it not to use DDE, all of these file types open very quickly. Is there any way to troubleshoot why attempted DDE connections run so slowly? I don't see any unusual activity in Process Explorer. I expect it is just timing out and giving up, but I can't figure out why. Sometimes the delay is as long as fifteen seconds.

Lastly, is there a way to have search highlight or go to the location of the search text in the previews window? Thanks,

All- I have a 2003 x64 server running a app with embedded audio. Normally the app is deployed in a standard LAN config. However, in this instance it needs to be deployed via TS. Clients are using RDP 5.2. Network bandwidth is not an issue, client and server are virtual machines running across the vmware software backplain, occurs in physical environment too. If more than 10 users get on the TS, as the server tried to delivery the audio, it will hang the app forcing an end task, its random. I can however crash the app just by requesting the audio clip about 50 times, and going to the next screen and doing the same again. Now if I connect to RDP and cho…

I recently downloaded Spybot. When I first immunized my system, it said that everything was immunized. When I checked it now, it said that over 700 files were unprotected. When I tried to immunize again, it said that I didn't have administrative rights. The Spybot help menu advised me to right click Spybot on the start menu and click "Run as Administrator". I did this, but it didn't change anything. Is this just a "bug" with Vista, or can I do something else? Thank you for your help.

Hi, Got a problemem with mounting drives on an windows 2003 Enterprise server SP2. After mounting a disk from a san the windows server does not show a drive letter to the mounted disk. Windows explorer does show a drive letter, windows command does show a drive letter but under windows disk management there is no drive letter assigned to the disk. If you want to add a drive letter to the disk it gives a error, but in you got to the explorer of command prompt you can browse to the folder and files. After a server reset a drive letter is assigned and is working fine. The reason why restating is not an option is that the mounted disk must be availab…
