I have to updates that will not install. KB892130 and KB898461 The interesting thing is that is dosen't show up as failed....they simply will just not install...anyone else have this prob...let me know...thanks

Howdy- Is there a way to force-sync a laptop to update its filesystem 'offline status'? Ex: a laptop that has a sync relationship setup with a network share 1. undocks 2. does some work/modifications 3. re-docks However, the offline folders *cannot* be forced to update themselves... Right-clicking the Sync Center icon & choosing 'Sync All' does nothing. When you right-click the context menu for some of these folders, the 'Sync' option is missing altogether. I just installed PaintSHop Pro 9 under Vista. It seems that certain webpages are now looking different and stange before installation. Some body in the Corel PSP9 newsgroup said something about Vista Aero eyecandy being turned to basic while PSP9 runs. I have no idea what Aero eye candy is or how to get my browsers to return to displaying websites back to the way they were before. ANy help is appreciated.

How could a domain local group be listed on the Security Tab of a public share with no allow or deny boxes checked (and nothing greyed out) yet under the Advanced button, Traverse/List for This Folder and Full Control for Subfolders be listed? Hi, I need to get a syslog server up on a windows server that is going to take syslog messages from windows servers & about 100 routers. I am looking at several options but would like to see what others may have used. One of the options I am looking at is Splunk and was wondering if anyone could comment on this, or if anyone had used ManageEngine's EventLog Analyzer. Thanks for any help, opinions, and advice. My XP MCE SP3 system has developed a problem - Program Access and Default settings are displayed incorrectly. Changes still seem to work and are reflected in, for example, Firefox's and Mozilla's initial checks to determine whether they have default program status. However, on returning to Program Access and Defaults, whatever the real settings are, the configuration is displayed as "Custom" and the program defaults as "Use my current...." (Web browser, e-mail program, etc, etc). Any ideas on how to correct the problem please? -- Thanks for any suggestions. Dick K

Hello, I am planning for add the Vista wirless AD scema extensions. I am new to this and am hoping for a little feedback. We have a server 2003 R2 domain. I have the white papaer on making this change and it seems pretty straight forward. One problem is I do not have the luxary of a testing environment. The second is I'm still a little foggy on a disaster recovery plan. It seems that you can not restore schema info but only disable additions you make, is this true? Also, if anyone has done this before please lend a helping hand. Thanks in advance.

In my environment, users log on and our home grown app automatically runs from a folder on the D drive (partition). Users do not have access to anything in their profile, except that app. (no desktop, apps, etc.) I noticed that the profiles are anywhere from 4-9 MB, this seems a little large, especially when 60-80 users log on. What's are some things I can do to keep these profiles to a minimum, or even possibly delete them after they log off?

I cannot find Japanese language in my language bar which I have used for long time. To figure out the problem, I went to: "control panel"-->"regional and language options"-->tab of "keyboards and languages"-->tab "general" The Japanese language was missing in the list. my pc has started configuring updates on a daily basis. There is the only the option to postpone for 10 minutes, an hour or 4 hours. It takes about 15-20 to configure the updates and then reboots itself. This is fine but I don't know why it has started doing it so often.....it is very annoying .......can anyone help please?

Dear Group, Can I access the Volume Shadow Copy of Quickbooks data file directly so I can include the file as part of the small nightly backup job based on another pc? I want to tell Acronis TrueImage the filename and location of the available Quickbooks datafile on the Vista PC so that I can make a backup schedule for this file in Acronis TI. I can't currently grab that file unless all the users exit the application and we set it to run in single-user mode. If I try to access the Quicken data file the pc says "this file is currently locked or in use by another program" type of message. Hence the need for me to able to access the older versions of…

I was having the same problem with on of my t60's and even after two rebuilds was seeing the same issue, we also do run a login script and I was thinking it might be the issue, just for the heck of it I installed XPsp3 and it worked! I was able to get 50 start-ups with absolutly no issues at all and in fact it looked like it was running faster! If possible, please try installing XPsp3 and let me know if that fixes your problem. I am running Vista Enterprise, with Classic Start Menu applied through a policy. Both "Store and display a list of recently opened files" and "Store and display a list of recently opened programs" are clicked ON. If I delete C:\Users\userid\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Office\Recent clear a corresponding network home drive (mapped to F:\) area called Recent Items AND I clear down the corresponding Roaming Profile data area on the HomeProfiles area of the home profiles server - I can then get rid of all the documents and programs which appear at Start > Documents.
