I did a "repair" of Windows XP Pro and then downloaded SP3. I then noticed my CPU's at 100% every 15 to 30 seconds for about 4 seconds. I downloaded Process Explorer and found that it was occuring within svchost.exe. I then went to Services and began stopping/pausing the Services while watching the effect on the CPU usage. When I stopped Network Connections (Netman, c:windows/system32/netman.dll), it stopped the CPU usage spikes. I'm worried about what this will affect by stopping this service. I do use a wireless network when at home and file and print share. Will this be affected? Can someone recommend a better fix or explain why this was causing …

I'm trying to set up a file extension to be associated with a software program on my machine. When I go into Folder Options, the program's file extension is not listed. I add it. When I try to associate it with the right software, it does not recognize it, even though I am drilling down in my programs folder to the exe file for the program. The software I'm trying to use is not even listed in the Programs list even though it is on the computer (and I can open it). Why is this doing this?

I have a USB hard drive connected to my laptop. When I examine files on the drive, it shows mp3 bit rates as being very high, e.g., 600 kbps. When I examine the same files on another computer, they show the correct bit rate, e.g., 360 kbps. Any ideas on why the files come up with a higher bit rate on the laptop (XP Home Edition) than on my other computers?

Go to the Accessories folder, open the Ease of Access folder, and start the Ease of Access Centre. You can turn off the Narrator from here: open the section titled "Use the Computer without a Display". Remove the ticks from the check boxes. That should fix your problem. 98 Opera Users considering an upgrade should note the posts and problems at http://my.opera.com/community/forums/forum.dml?id=26 Users should keep their earlier system intact, as many people have found the upgrade unusable. 9.50 looks like a respository of lessons on how not to do an upgrade. If you upgrade and upgrade your mail, you can't go back, unless you have a backup, but then you could lose interim mail.
