I am new to this posting. I hope this is the right place to ask this question. I have a standalone Windows XP Professional system. I am required to audit the access of the CD /DVD usage on this system. I have looked in the Group policy. I have looked at poperties of the device. I have dug around in the registry. Does anyone have an idea how to have the usage of the CD / DVD drive get logged to the security log in event viewer ( SecEvent.Evt). To be more specific, I need to know when a person writes information to the device. Although reads would be nice, the writing is what we are more concerned about.

> The download was corrupt or truncated. Empty your local cache of Temporary > Internet Files. Ensure that you have disabled any download accelerator. > Try Windows Updates again. Thank you Robin - I assumed that you meant the Temporary Internet Files area of Internet Explorer and deleted those files, and was able to install my German MUI under Vista Ultimate. That is, there was no more Error 800700C1, although the Windows Update main screen says, hilariously, "Some updates were not installed. Not needed: 1 update. View available updates." This after an update with one item checked, which the update history says was successful. I just ca…

I have a faxmodem attached a server running Windows 2003 Server. I use the server as a terminal server and to receive faxes. I send faxes using an email fax service. The faxes received are forwarded to a folder on my file server. I use the Microsoft fax program that’s part of the OS. My problem is that the faxes are missing a line or two per page. I called the maker of my faxmodem and they said I needed to make some flow control setting changes however the Microsoft program doesn’t allow you to make flow control changes. Is there a simple program that works on Windows 2003 server I can use which would allow me to make these changes and do everyt…

has anyone noticed issues when clicking on media links in a browser opens wmp and says it can't open it? i'm looking at videos on windows vista enterprise features on msft site, but each asx file i click on, wmp says it can't open it and i have to either connect to the internet or insert my removable media card. also, the web help button i think was a nice feature to add where it will give you a more descriptive reason as to why it isn't working....when i click on it after giving this error, it does nothing. it took about 12 attempts before it finally opened having the same issue with all the links on that page i tried that same link under xp with …

Using Vista premium on my dell 1530 laptop with screen resolution at 1920 x 1200. When using Vista basic, everything is perfect. However, with Aero on, browsers still at 1920 x 1200 but certain pop up boxes are clearly not at 1920 x 1200. Pop up boxes such as opening firewall menu, spybot program. Not all pop up boxes are at lower resolution. For example, when I open up network connection status box, it is at good resolution however, when I go further and his properties box, clearly at lower resolution. Does anyone have any idea what the problem is? thanks in advance.

Yep, did the trick under Vista. You'll have to run the batch-file as administrator though, so do not forget! Big question however is: How did I get into this situation in the first place??? Virus?? I have:- HP LaserJet 4050, (parallel port) HP DeskJet 5850 (USB) cannon FAX/printer D780 (USB) I would settle for 2/3 printers on network.

Yksinkertainen kysymys: "Mitä Suomen valtion kansantalous saa tehtyä niillä 100% puhtailla energiamäärillään, joita sille tuottaa esim. wanhasta palaneesta vesiekosähkövoimasta kunnostettu perinteinen pienvesivoimalayhtiömme Lapijoen sähkö 12v aikana. 10 000 000kWh?" i am using a sony vaio laptop and use a USB saitek eclipse keyboard to play my games on my tv. all of a sudden without any warning.. (i had gone to make a cup of tea after an uneventful mornings work) my keyboard has got a mind of its own. if it is plugged in, i get it typing random letters.. when i came back to it, i found 49 search screens open. nothing was in the search though. i wondered if it might be some kind of virus, but it doesn't seem to do anything really harmful, and when i take the keyboard out the problems stop. i tried the keyboard in my brothers computer and it behaves properly. I think this is a software issue, but this uses woindows driv…
