Hi, I'll 'try' and keep this quick: A couple of days ago my computer, upon start/bootup, came up with the message stating the the "ntoskrnl.exe file was missing or corrupted and needed to be reloaded." Looking online (not ms.com) I was pointed to getting this file from the WinXP CD (note. my version is XP Pro SP2) using the 'expand' command in DOS. I was unable to do this as I kept getting a message that the file could not be created. Then, again looking elsewhere online for more ideas, I tried doing a 'fixboot' in DOS hoping to repair the boot-up. As you may know, this started to 'rebuild/create a new boot sector.' I was amused by my us-cert email this morning about how Apple has patched numerous vulnerabilities on their operating system. So much for the argument that you always hear from Walt Mossberg's column in the Wall Street Journal about how great Apples are and how Walt thinks they are so superior to PC's. I have no big problem with Apple and I use an Ipod Mini which is nice for travel but I do not like how they bundle Quicktime with Itunes and then Quicktime continues to get hit with so many security vulnerabilities. Suddenly when I try to open notepad, I get an error window saying: Notepad has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available - which there isn't. Any idea what has gone wrong? Maybe I am going to find other apps with similar trouble - I hope not. I am having the same problem. I was using Windows Vista Home Basic, but had too many application compatability issues, so I went back to XP pro. After Service Pack 2, before I even get the windows loading screen, The screen goes all black with a white block loading bar at the bottom. It takes this screen 5-10 minutes to load before I even get the XP pro loading screen. I have tried, defragging, running registry mechanic, made sure all my drivers and windows updates were up to date, and I also formatted my entire hard drive trying to fix this problem. After the recent Vista Updates last week i Noticed my PC was freezing. It eventually Blue screened on me. When I went to reboot it would only reach a black screen with the mouse pointer available and functioning. I have tried to enter via the various Safe Mode options but all lead to the same black screen. I have tried using the repair functions from my orginal disc but it suggests there are no errors and I can subsequently only get to the blank black screen with mousey. I placed all my HDs in a seperate machine running Vista Home Prem 32 and all were accessible except for the Hd that contaned my Vista 64. It appears in Computer as a Local Disk but A…

Hello, I have shared Windows 2003 server solution for a couple of small companys located in the same building. And we own a Ricoh MFP and need something that can register and bill the customers when they print to it. It needs to be something that runs only on the server side and uses AD username for accounting. I need to register: A4 or A3, Duplex or non duplex, Color or B/W.
