I am using Vista Ultimate machines and after I install SP 1 on them I am unable to run programs or install programs over the network in my domain. When it asks for admin credentials, I provide them and then I get the message, "The account is not authorized to log in from this station." I was able to do this before I installed SP 1 and if I uninstall it I am able to run or install programs over the network. I keep install files on a server 2003 computer with SP 2 on it.

I am a product of a test tube baby experiment, and all I know is that I have 3 parents. Also the other clue I have is that my name is Frank DeSpanky Yainaire... Download has a review of UltraExplorer which says it overhauls Windows explorer experience. Some features are similar (well, how could file-browsing be any different?) while others have very different work flows (it should be, otherwise it’s gonna be a waste of time trying it out) and overall, UltraExplorer combines the features of both Vista and [...] More...

Rick Rogers, thank you for the Process Explorer link! I searched high and low for a way to remove this annoying folder on my desktop and the Process Explorer found the virtually anonymous process holding the file hostage instantly. Also, thank you to all of you that post and respond to these types of issues, without you I would be lost :) -- rableroble

Thanks for this suggestion. When you suggest a "slave" drive, are you saying I should consider putting in another hard drive or another external drive? It seems that this is a good solution to solving some of my problems if programs are dumping info on my hard drive without me realising it. Hi Rick, I have tried to locate the offending program, but with no success. My only programs I use are StrongDC (which is the p2p client which gives it's resources back, and which never takes more than 108MB Ram max), Excel 2007, FolderMatch, FireFox and Outlook. The main problem of Vista seems to be handling of more then 50000 files each day in 39 folders. I have a collection of my library books (which I scanned), and each day copy/paste them because I constantly organise them futher. This big move/copy operation is still too much for the Windows Vista OS to handle properly without memory leaks. I have tried my hobby-occupation on other OSse. like Linux and Wind…

My sidebar and anything else that uses ASP has suddenly stopped working?? I am a DJ and I use a program called Gigbuilder to view and edit my events. While Gigbuilder comes up when I click on the event ... nothing happens. Their tech support cannot help or should I say does not know the solution. Here are more symptoms:1. Sidebar just shows the clock second hand at 12:00 PM, all the others are blank too as if they cannot connect.2. I thought it may be my McAfee firewall, but that too is blank when I open it up. Meaning no buttons show for me to click on!!3. Other sites that use an ASP link will not open. I bought a new SCION so thought I would take their sur…
