Start menu display of documents as a menu ceases to function properly on my new x64-based PC with Microsoft Vista Home Premium operating system. The capability of opening a document four or five layers of folders deep by navigating to it from the start menu and clicking on it ceases after opening one or two documents. In the failure mode the next layer of folders opens upon moving the cursor to Documents on the start menu, but no highlighting appears when the cursor is moved onto the newly displayed layer. Clicking on the layer without highlighting closes the entire start menu. Right clicking on Documents and selecting Explore still opens Windows Explo…

I just discovered that if you have an ATI-card, and right-click on the desktop, the GDI-usage of explorer.exe each time increases (with 1) , and it's resources won't be given back. I also found a solution : disable displaying the ATI-Control menu -> see http://blogulate.com/content/how-to-disable-ati-catalyst-control-center-from-context-menu-in-windows/ how to do that. When you have disabled it, no GDI-memory is leaked from explorer.exe when right-clicking. This leak patch is not the main leak I have at the moment, but every bit helps. We get the following error message. "There is a problem with the proxy server's security certificate. The security certificate is not from a trusted certifying authoritty. After hours of trawling the web, across many months -...now and again when time permits - if you see what I mean, I still can't find that "just right" PCI USB card. ....the nearest I've come to it is: http://www.shenztech.com/code/ui/product/product.aspx?prdid=SFU2N-NEC72874&catid=9 http://www.ebuyer.com/product/60608/show_product_reviews ....I've found a few with 1 x 4 pin header internal connector. i.e. I'm trying to find a PCI card, preferably with 1394a on it as well, and which has "double" USB pin headers on it just like on a motherboard 9+key/10 pin Intel style connector, ..heaven would of course be - also an internal Intel style 1349a / case fro…

I just attempted to drag an old icon on my desktop to the trash bin. Instead of going into the basket, it just moved to a different location on the desktop. I can right-click and delete with no problem, however. I created a second icon for a test, and it does the same thing. Drag & drop works fine elsewhere... just NOT on the desktop! Rebooting did not help. Anyone got a clue??? Thanks in advance, Dave

Hi, PA Bear sited a web site a few days back that was designed, I think, the type of problem I've had. Ceptin it did not work. I updated XP to SP 3 about 3 weeks ago. Sigh, just after scanning, pruning and doing all sorts of maintenance. Then the OS starts doing a freezing up and constantly running memory in the background. Because I had just primped everything I did not realize I was infected with Trojans, etc. So, I uninstalled everything I had just installed, including XP3. Now I cannot reinstall it again. I made the registry changes, which were duly accepted for a missing ..dll file. Any other ideas? Thank-you, Molly PS.. I'm also the pers…

Every time I send a print over our network to our Epson 2200, Photoshop will crash a few moments after the print has finished. Sometimes it just goes "Poof", no error message, no nothing, it's just gone. Other times it gives me the "Send Error Report" dialog box with the message "Adobe Photoshop CS2 has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." error signature says AppName: photoshop.exe AppVer: 9.0.2.0 ModName:unknown ModVer 0.0.0.0 Offset: 03301548 . I also have occasionally had a similar problem with other applications, but Photoshop is my main line of work so that's where I experience most of the problems.
