When I try to install this service pack it fails and I get various error messages. I notice that when the update appears that it indicates "0 bytes and 0 minutes". What gives?

I too experience the same issue with A Toshiba Satelite Laptop running Vista Home Premium SP1. After upldating and restarting windows fails to load and the system just sits there with a black screen. Sound familiar? The only way I have been able to fix this is to clear the memory apperently there is something being written in the caché that interferes with normal bootup through the mbr. (Methode 1) To clear the memory of this issue power down, then remove both AC cord and the battery from your laptop. Then reinsert the AC cord and power cycle your laptop it will now boot into windows, you can now reinsert your battery at anytime. (Methode 2) Power …

I'm investigating an error in a custom application that only seems to happen when a particular action is performed for the first time following a restart of the PC. (A Properties dialog contains a grid-type control that's an interface to custom properties in a Visio diagram. When a property is updated in the dialog, and OK clicked to trigger the update in the Visio diagram, the property values are sometimes wiped.) When this dialog box is opened for the first time, it takes noticeably longer to open, and it is then when the error occurs. Other observations so far: 1. The error has only occurred for Limited users. 2. The error may happen, say, 3 …

Good day, I have a server with a device (DVD/CD-ROM drives) reporting Win32_PNPEntity.ConfigManagerErrorCode = 39. What is troubling is the fact that the MSDN documentation on this class (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa394353(VS.85).aspx) clearly shows that the range for this property is 0-31. Thanks, Larry

Can you call the FBI and send them to see Adam Albright? Adam needs a visit by the FBI. Oh yea, send them to Spain so they can check out Alias. I'm sure Alias has a shady past. What other bits of wisdom do you have for us Kevin? Let's hear it! I started up my PC and I always have to press F1 to continue past the bios message "Your CPU fan speed is too low". My monitor was off still while I was spamming F1. When my monitor turned on, boot manager was open. I just pressed enter cause Vista was highlighted. Then it started doing a scan or something. I turned my PSU off and on cause I didn't need to do any scan or whatever it was doing. I restarted my PC when the scan (or what was it?) was at something like 3140/102 235. Now when I try starting up Vista I get a quick blue screen and it restarts. I tried using my Vista DVD to repair but when I click repair and it started repairing, I got a bluescreen…

[also posted on microsoft.public.dotnet.framework.wmi] I have .NET 2.0 SP1, .NET 3.0 SP1 and .NET 3.5 running on a Windows Server 2003 R2 SP2, fully patched. It is NOT a DC. I have some WMI errors that apparently need .NET 3.5 SP1 (which isn't out yet, and I've tried but can't get the hotfix that will correct the problem), and am hoping that .NET 3.5 with n o errros in the WMI Diagnostic utility will do the trick. I ran it just now and it came back with a statement that WMI is operating correctly. However, the .txt file that was generated had some errors that I feel I should fix. However, I haven't a clue on how to do it in WMIMGMT.MSC. Here's the errors…

Hi, I have a Trust Bluetooth dongle, which works perfectly. I use it to connect a Logitech Laser Mouse and an LG L600V, the latter thru its own software. Never had a problem. Lately, the bluetooth icon which used to sit in the system tray (notification area) is gone. I have checked the registry and the relative key is set to 1. If I open bluetooth thru the control panel, I uncheck > apply > check > apply, the icon reappears and works perfectly, until the next restart, where it's gone again... Considering: - SSPD Discovery Service is Disabled - UPNP Service is Disabled - Registry Key is set to 1 Any suggestions? Regards, Lupo
