Hi! We are in the process of enabling auditing on some files servers, but it seem somebody already did it in the past, since as soon as we are enabling it in the local security policy, we got a lot of events about directory being acceded successfully/failed in the security log. Now the question is : how we could enumerate all directories where Auditing have been already enabled? Thanks. Claude Lachapelle Systems Administrator, MCSE

Hi All, Tunnel: openvpn-2.1_beta7-gui-1.0.3-install.exe OS: XP-PRO sp2 client sp3 server I am trying to set up a tunnel between two computers. All goes well until the client (sp2) tries to log into the server (sp3). As soon as the clients traffic hits the server, the server crashes. There is nothing in the Open VPN GUI log file. But there is this in Microsoft event log under applications: Faulting application, openvpn, exe version 0.0.0.0, faulting module MSVCRT.dll version 7.0.2600. 5512, fault address 0x00032a16 If you look at the send error message report, it says the same thing. Just FYI. Here's one for the Google archives. XP SP3. My system is not now crashing nor BSOD but I've been getting this event recorded in the Event Log on EVERY boot. "The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x0000008e (0xc0000005, 0x804ef186, 0xbacf374c, 0x00000000). A full dump was not saved." I was getting BSOD a while ago but have since fixed that. It turns out that XP will record the above event message on every boot if you still have this file: c:\WINDOWS\MEMORY.DMP That's the file it usually writes during a BSOD, however the boot code is apparently not smart enough to know it's an old file, so it continues to log …

Hi everyone, I was browsing the web today with Firefox 3 and for some strange reason the screen went black and the computer was back at the main startup sequence like it had been turned off and then on without win2000 shutting down normally. I checked the event viewer and it said: The computer has rebooted from a bugcheck. The bugcheck was: 0x00000035 (0x80cbb788, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000). Microsoft Windows 2000 [v15.2195]. A dump was saved in: F:\WINNT\Minidump\Mini071008-01.dmp. What exactly is going on here? This does not make sense. Everything seems to be working fine. My Kaspersky firewall did detect an Intrusion.Worm.Helkern a minu…

I would just like to say Thank You to the members on this Forum that helped me to restore my compressed folders which appeared to have been created in notepad. This has been driving me nuts for weeks. So I searched on Google and came up with this Forum. I am an Internet Marketer and this has prevented me from doing my work in a huge way. I even considered dumping Vista and Installing XP Pro on but I quite enjoy using Vista. Again Many Thanks. :D -- Carlsberg
