Hi, Whenever I try to add custom gadgets to the sidebar I get the following message: Windows cannot access teh specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item. I am an administrator user type for the computer. And can add the gadgets that are included with Vista. Thanks in advance, Bill

I have two similar XP Pro systems. I have the same folder of mp3 files on both. On one of the systems, if I hover over the file in windows explorer, I get a pop-up description that is very detailed and seems to include a lot of the ID3 information. On the other system, if I hover over a file in explorer, I just see basic file info (the same as for any file). I don't remember what I did (if indeed I did anything) to get the first system to behave that way. How do I make the second system behave that way? Bob

Hello, When I copy a created profile to the default user profile on Vista the icon locations on the desktop change. Everything works great, just the icons are moved. Does anyone know how to make the icons stay where they were set? Thanks.

Hi Everybody/Anybody I have inherited a small network (2 x 2K servers & 2 x 2003 servers). DC1 is a 2K machine and DC2 is a 2003 machine. My Microsoft experience stopped in the year 2000 so I was good up to NT 3.51. The previous IT did not leave any information on how anything is/was setup. DC2 has been locked down/hardened (what ever terminology you are happy with) or hacked (the previous IT was a Linux geek). Our main administrator (could have been renamed?) account cannot access DC2 (only DC2, I have full acces to any other machine on the network) and I have tried all active directory accounts but nothing lets me into DC2. For example, there is …

I just got a new computer with window vista and everytime I start it in the morning the default language screen pops up on my lower right side asking to to select English which is already checked off but it will not let me do anything and the only way to get rid of it is to restart my computer and it goes away for the rest of the day even if I turn off the computer and start up it only shows the first time in the morning? I have been in touch with the online help and so far they have come up 0!! Has did happen to any one else and how did you fix it?

I am using robocopy to copy folders from a PC to a server. I want to preserve all ACLs & dates. I can preserve all ACLs & file dates using /copyall switch but this does not preserve folder dates. I note from Windows Server 2008 info on Technet that there is a switch, /dcopy:T, to do just this, but this is not available in the Server 2003 version. Is it possible to download the latest version of robocopy without having Server 2008 ? Or does anyone know of a recognised alternative ?
