ok first let me explain what exactly I want I have a dedicated web server , with one web site hosted on it , I can access web site with 2 address my main domain and my static IP but I want if users wanted to access my web site via IP system automaticaly redirect them to my domain istead of opening web site by IP, I want this for domain with and without www also . for example I want if users access site with this address http://mysite.com system redirect them to http://www.mysite.com you can see this in microsoft domain look at this http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/...svista/sp1.mspx now if we got to this address with microsoft ip system aut…

An "IMPORTANT" Update, KB936181 shows up as ready to install. I've installed it numerous times with and without a Restart (does not prompt for a Restart after it says Successfully Installed), however the update keeps showing it needs installed. My language screen keeps coming up every morning it the lower right corner asking me to select English which it has a check on but it will not let me do anything and the only way I get rid of it is if I reboot then it is gone for the rest of the day even if I turn off and start my computer again it only comes in the first start up in the morning. MS help has been trying to figure it out but so far they are at a stop? Has this ever happen to anyone else and if so how do I get rid of it.

Just discovered the useful /separate option for explorer.exe which can be combined with runas to get an explorer window with a different user's privileges. But it doesn't seem to work if I try to combine /separate with oher explorer switches, such as /e or specifying a directory to open in. Is there a special syntax for this or does /separate preclude the use of other switches? Grateful for advice.

I installed Vista Ultimate Hebrew. I am trying to install the English Languae pack. I tried installing it both from a CD that came woth the software and by downloading. In both cases the intallation completes and i get an option to choose English as the new interface, but when i restart the computer it returns to hebrew. Thanks.

Just added a simple external USB drive to a server to act as a secondary backup device. Working fine until a re-boot following M/S updates. Now it is not recognised. I doubt if it were the actual updates. I suspect that the drive is just not being seen as it is already plugged in. However, it does see the USB tape drive OK. Anyone know how to get the box to scan the USB ports and pick up the drive? I typically RDC into this machine as its 25 miles away. Don C

I was using Windows Fax on my terminal server running Win 2003 Server. It worked OK for years and I would route the incoming faxes to a folder on the network. Recently there were lines missing on each received fax so I tried to install a new fax program that would allow me to make flow control changes, unlike the Windows fax program/service. The new program didn’t work at all so I reinstalled Windows fax except now I cannot route the received faxes to the old folder that used to receive them or any other folder for that matter, regardless of their permissions. You know how there are 2 animation types for the tooltips? Fade and Scroll/Slide? Fade works just fine on my XP and Win2k3 boxes, but the scroll/slide doesn't. The tooltips on the frame buttons (minimize, maximize & close buttons) scroll/slide fine, but none of the others do. I wrote a test MFC app, and turns out that if I limit my app to ComCtrl v5.8, the scroll/slide tooltips work, but with ComCtrl v6.0, they just come up with no animations. Other apps behave the same way too, so it must have been broken with one of the recent patches, because I'm pretty damn sure I tested my app with it.

I have a Dell XPS 420 desktop with Vista Ultimate with documents, pictures, mail, favorites, etc. that have been imported from Windows 98se. I can click on existing favorites and Links (that were imported), but I get an "unknown error" message when I try to place a new favorite or link into the list. Just can not figure out how to do it. Neither could Dell. I know they were imported correctly as it was done by a Microsoft MVP, and everything else seems to be working just fine. Any help would be appreciated.

I run Indigo Perl under Windows XP. My problem is that Perl scripts aren't able to see the command line that invoked them, unless I prefix their name with an explicit call to my Perl interpreter. Why not? For example, I have a simple script listargs.pl which counts and lists its command-line parameters (in array @ARGV). If I invoke: listargs.pl a b c then I get: 0 parameters However, if I invoke perl listargs.pl a b c then I get: 3 parameters: a b c as desired. Can anyone suggest why the command-line parameters are lost in the first form? - Rich

Does anyone know anything about UserEnv 1504 & 1509? I can make a user a domain admin and thier profile will still not update. I cannot find any helpful information. No cacheing on profile share. I've rebuilt profiles. Thanks in advance.

I need to move 25 workstations to a new domain but would like to copy their domain/user profiles to the new doamin/user.. After changing domains, the old domain profile is not listed so I can't copy it. What IS listed are 2 "Account Unknown" profiles--I suspect they are the old ones but I can't copy them (greyed out). Should I use the wizard to copy the profile before changing domains to a "holding" account or just manually copy. I think I have seen a KB on doing it manually but can't find it now.
