I got my new computer a couple of days ago, and created an administrator account immediately (i'm logged into it now). I keep trying to create a standard account for my wife, but when I click on the Add/Remove Account link nothing happens. There's a windows shield next to it, so I expected to be prompted for my adminstrator password. Again, nothing happens. What am I doing wronge here?

For anyone who regularly uses multiple windows, and has autohide toolbar / alot of quick launch buttons, the taskbar isn't always a convineant place to minimize windows you want to snatch back after a quick copy and paste for instance. This would be especially useful for multiple monitor uses. with the WIN+Space shortcut making the sidebar useful, it would be a nice addition to be able to minimize windows to the sidebar as well as task bar. perhaps as there is a horizontal line button on windows (top-right-3), there could be a verticle button to indicate minimize to sidebar. (and while we're on window management, Space and Expose like functions as…

Folks, There isn't a large abundance of reviews about network media streaming devices, but for less than £200 ($400) the Netgear EVA-8000 seems to lead the pack based purely on number of positve reviews. There seems to be even less reviews about multimedia hard drives or enclosures....odd since there are about 10 times more of these on the market that streaming devices. Because they're cheaper, and do not offer the possibility of a dropped connection, the multimedia HD might be the way to go. Does anyone have any personal experience with one? Sumvision and Iomega make some that look good on paper, but again, are not well reviewed. I have a collection …

Hello All - Here's a wacky one. I have a Network Connections Icon or rather Link on my desktop (Vista Business) that I can't figure out how to remove. So far : When I right click it - the options are : Open Explore Create Shortcut I'm at a loss. I've tried rebooting in safe mode and still the same 3 options. I've went to the desktop folder and it's not showing there. I've also tried dragging it to the taskbar and nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance

Hi, I’m Sharath Udupa, developer on the IE team focusing on AJAX features for IE8. One of the AJAX improvements we adopted in IE8 from HTML5 is AJAX page navigations. In IE8 mode, we provide support for script to update the travel log components (for e.g. back/forward buttons, address bar) to reflect client-side updates to documents. This allows a better user experience where users can navigate back and forth without messing the AJAX application state. For more information regarding the feature and sample code, refer to the Internet Explorer MIX08 Hands-on Labs for AJAX and IE8 Beta 1 for Developers. For an example of how this can be used to hook navigation in Silve…

All, I am attempting to get EFS file sharing working in a 2K3 AD Environment with XP Machines. I have successfulyl installed a DRA and disabled self-signed certificates with the Windows hotfix and Group Policy option as specified in the Windows KB Article. However I still can't get EFS to work over the network. In fact since installing the above, another user can't create a new encrypted file wthin an encrypted folder. They get access denied. Another user had told me that I should enable credential roaming or roaming profiles. This was to solve multiple certificates from being issued in AD (via Enterprise CA). Would this also prevent me from sharing en…

I do not understand this. 1. I have a Vista Ultimate installation. 2. I set up a user id and configure a desktop (color, icons, etc) to my liking. 3. I create a few mapped drives. 4. I install a program that uses the mapped drives. 5. I sit at the PC and the program works to perfection. 6. I set up Remote Access (RDP) to allow access without NLA. 7. I log off but leave the PC running. 8. I go to another PC and use RDP to connect to the Vista PC using the same user id as I set up above. 9. I see exactly what I expect (the desktop is exactly the way I left it in step 7) 10. When I run the program, Vista now prompts me to Allow a program from an Unidentified …
