When this computer was set up, supplemental language support was enabled in regional options for right-to-left, script, and east asian languages. I think that setting loaded IMJPMIG and two instances of TINTSETP. Subsequently, those options were un-ticked and English is the only language listed for text services. However, those three programs just mentioned continue to load. Am I safe removing them from registry run keys, or is it possible that something else remains to be done in the switch back to English only which would have removed these keys automatically? Using XP SP3 Professional. This machine was previously on a domain and is now a standalone. …

I was wanting to know, pls, if I can somehow automate some functions that windows explorer does. Perhaps there is some code I could write that does the following for me instead of clicking my way through windows explorer. Problem: I have hundreds of folders. Each folder contains .wav files. The no of wav. files varies from folder to folder. The name of each folder is an integer as is the name of each .wav file. Each folder name is unique. Each ..wav name is unique. Aim: I want to "strip" all the .wav files from their location within each folder and put all the .wav files into one folder. The single folder i end up with will have all the .wav files t…

People, stop freaking out. KB915597 is the standard Update for Windows Defender file definitions, of course you need to update these every day! It's exactly the same thing when Norton updates it's anti-virus definitions on a daily basis. This particular update always has a serial number in parenthesis (1.37.1234.1 or some such) if you take note of this serial number, this counter increases changing every day when you install the next update, I refer you guys to: http://editorsdesktop.com/KB915597.html "Noel Paton" wrote: > Ah - there's the difference! > You have IE7 installed! - would have been useful if you'd said that at the > start…

Colin, Not sure why in safe mode I couldn't get thr *normal* restore options. I Did go to Sys. Protect, not Restore as I mistakenly wrote before. But I did try a different avenue. 1 I prob. should have thought of earlier. I wnet to Add/Remove progs. Just to see if anything that looked funky from 7/14 was there. I found UDF Reader. Which is exactly what tried to install the Roxio driver. I did an Uninstall, and now the blocked driver is gone. I did try to post to the NG,some 3hrs ago and it has yet to show. But I see another tip. Not sure what Vz is doing. That is why I am posting this here as well. Thanks for your assistance. -- larrym683…

I am only able to use my account which is the original one. I have 3 other accounts set up that quit working all of a sudden. When trying to switch to them there is just a curser and blue screen and nothing else. I tried deleting all the accounts manually as well (c:\users) and then tried adding accounts again. The same thing just a blue screen. Did a system restore as far back as I could no luck! Please help! Thanks, Brian
