Hello All, I'm having a persistent issue that began on the 7th of July. It appears that the DFS database is getting defragmented on an hourly basis. I can't find any information about the dfsr 3440. I believe it is causing unnecessarily high utilization of system resources. The event is logged as follows: Event Type: Information Event Source: ESENT Event Category: Online Defragmentation Event ID: 700 Date: 7/11/2007 Time: 12:00:09 PM User: N/A Computer: DYNAMIC-DC01 Description: Dfsr (3440) \\.\D:\System Volume Information\DFSR \database_3898_8D03_988C_C0BC\dfsr.db: Online defragmentation is beginning a full pass on database '\\.\D:\Syste…

I have a Toshiba Satelitte Laptop, it came pre-installed w/Windows Vista. I've been getting a message about not being able to update for a while, but mistakenly thought this was because of something I as the user had done, as opposed to a corrupted file. Now, when I do want to go get an update, I'm getting error code 80070490. I've looked up previous posts about this message, and the general consensus is that the only way to correct this is to "upgrade" from the original Vista disc. However, I didn't get a Vista disc with my laptop. When I run my system install disc, I can't select Windows to "update." In fact, the only option I can see that will pro…

I have posted this to Working Remotely as well.... I have an associate who can search her mapped drives while she is in the office with no problems. However, when she works remotely over an SSL VPN connection, it comes back with no results depsite knowing the file she is searching for is obviously there. Searching the C:\ drive while remote works fine. Any ideas? Thanks Rex

I received a CD-RAM from the Department of the Army that apparently requires MDAC 2.5 to view its contents (x-ray films). When I try to download MDAC 2.5 or 2.8, my system tells me that an error occurred and this software is already a part of Windows. The ability to view this CD-ROM is essential for Disability Claim purposes, but I am unable to use the CDVIEWER progam on the CD-ROM. Does anyone have a solution?

I have Vista 64-bit, and really am pleased with the results. Really have not had much trouble getting anything to run. My system rates a 5.5, so running Aero is no problem, but I have seen examples where the windows not only have a transparent frame - but a transparent background, as well. All you see is the outline of the frame, the text and the icons. The original desktop wallpaper shows through the window. There is an example on the Help page for Aero. Anyone know how to get this effect?

hi! i've got a little problem. on a 2003 r2 server with sp2 and ie7 (terminalserver), user cannot access homepages where active x flash player is required. but on another server, a 2003 r2 sp1 with ie7 (terminalserver), there is no problem. same configuration in the group policy settings and on both servers is the flash player installed. is there something different in the security configuration in the sp2? has anyone a solution? (i cannot remove the sp2 because a software requires sp2). thanks for every answer.

This info is misleading, you do not have to switch off everything to get rid of the problem. Simply right click on internet explorer in the programs list within zonealarm, choose "options" and place ticks beside "this program may use other programs to access the internet" and also "allow program interaction". This is an instant permanent fix. Windows Update will work straight after saving these changes.

We have a computer running Vista Business. We have discovered that, when it displays an email address downloaded from a PHP/MQSQL server, it shows the email address of the person who is logged in to the site rather than the data on the database. This happens whether Internet Explorer or Firefox is being used. If you "view source" you see the data being sent from the server/database!! Any ideas? -- Hugh
