I posted this question somewhere else and got no replies, so I'll try putting it here. I can get Task Scheduler to display a message. However, if I am actually USING the pc then the message gets shunted to the back of the screen, and is "displayed" BEHIND the open windows. It also has a pathetic little "ding" sound as the audible warning. In other words the reminder is hidden and doesn't remind anything. It is pretty damned useless like this (as much use as a chocolate teapot) and I can't find the option to display the message ON TOP of the other open windows (to be any good it should display on top by default), if such is even there, and one should …

I use WindowsXP. My shortcuts for my xl spreadsheets have started giving me errors such as: can't find c:\documents.xls. I click ok and then it says: can't find c:\and.xls. I click ok and then it says: can't find c:\setting.xls. and so on. it continues on between each word in the pathname but the spreadsheet opens in the end. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Hi, I'm running Vista Premium 32bit, I'm also running Norton. I often get a warning from Norton informing me that 'SVCHOST.exe' is trying to access the internet with unrecognized modules. I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing by always allowing this file to do what ever it's doing. What is it and what is it doing? Mickey

dcomcnfg.exe > Component Services > Computers > My Computer > DCOM Config I see some entries here that shouldn't be there anymore. For example there is a "TestDCOM.exe" which I remember playing with a few month ago, but that exe has long been deleted, yet still shows up here. My problem is that the "X" (delete) button is greyed out. I am loged in as administrator. I know that if I do "RegSvr32.exe /u TestDCOM.exe" for example, it removes the entries from the above list. If I don't have TestDCOM.exe anymore is there another way to remove it? Thanks, NB

Hi all! Windows XP (with auto update on so I imagine sp3 is installed). I have a strange problem. I read one of my CDs recently and looked at some old Excel files. I closed them and all other applications. When I tried to take out the CD I got a warning that DLA had detected an open or unsaved file (nothing had been changed exceopt that I had printed from a couple of them). Pressing OK revealled that nothing was open. Once again an attempt to open the drive failed. I then had to do an emergency eject (paper clip in hole). In both cases there was warning that damage might occur to my files. Now I have tried again and the files ook OK and no such warnin…
