for some reason this seems to be a recurring problem throughout the Windows' world - i've installed Acrobat Pro and the installer is messed up - this time it's when i right-click that's calling "Windows Installer" configuring Acrobat Installation. i've downloaded the Installer Cleanup utility, but the last few times it hasn't done any good. This has even occurred on a brand new reinstall of Vista Ultimate. as well, Itunes has created the same problem. nothing has helped, and i don't know what else to do. can someone tell me WHAT is causing this clearly not-uncommon problem (there seems to be many people who encounter this annoyance)??? is there another…

I put the "weather show" gadget on my side bar. It shows Munich temperature and when I click to change or add locations it shows it will delete and add locations, I click the apply or change and it once again just shows Munich. How can I get it to delete, and apply various locations? I had this function working well several months ago and now it will not function correctly. Any ideas?

Hi, I had a total hd breakdown on my laptop this morning. Under normal circumstances I would have had hours of restore work after I had installed a new drive. I would have had to first install Vista, then go through tons of backups to get my user files back, and finally I would have to reinstall all my programs. It would have been a weekend dedicated to disaster recovery. Since I have Vista Ultimate I've been creating complete disk image backups on an external USB drive. But to be honest, I didn't expect the restore to work. But it did! I made sure I purchased the exact same drive I had before, put it in the laptop, booted from the install CD and got the th…

I'd like to speed my bootups by removing unneeded items from starting up using MSCONFIG. One of the items is "Service Manager" (sqlmanger.exe). Some of the Google references think it's a useful file, but I'm not aware of using SQL in my normal applications, and I think I don't need to have it start at bootup. Any reason NOT to disable it at startup? Bobbi

Ubuntu 8.04 has Firefox 3 as the default browser. On July 16, 2008 Mozilla released Firefox 3.0.1 that fixes a lot of critical security flaws. But at current date, there're no updates for Firefox 3 for Ubuntu 8.04. 'Check for updates' button is also disabled in Firefox. Still no updates for Firefox 3 in Ubuntu Update Manager. Ubuntu security sucks!

Where does the files to a mounted drive end up? For example, I have a Asus 701 with a 4GB SSD (solid state drive). Not a lot of room, plus writing to SSD and flash drives reduces how long they will last. EEE PCs also sports a SD(HC) slot. I have two SDHC 16GB, so I have a lot of space now. Problem though, lots of programs won't install on a removable drive. And Windows doesn't like parts of itself on a removable drive either (swap file for example). So the solution is to use "Mount in the following empty NTFS folder" option. And I installed many programs through a mounted folder and things were fine. I also modified where my Settings and Documents folder …
