Hi! It’s Bill Hill here again, still fighting the good fight to make typography on the Web as good as we’re used to seeing in print. We made significant progress this week, when one of the USA’s most prestigious font companies announced its support for the Embedded OpenType format for font embedding on the Web, and launched a new website to promote other browsers to support it in addition to Internet Explorer (which has had EOT support built-in since 1996). There is a problem with the MDICLIENT window class on Aero. When I maximize an MDI application and maximize a child window, the child window is 4-pixels short on the right side, showing the gray MDI client window below. If the application isn't maximized this problem doesn't exist. It only happens with Aero with "Windows Vista Basic" it isn't there, nor is it there on any of Windows 95 through XP. This isn't just my app that does this. I dug out the IconPro sample code from an old copy of the Microsoft SDK and it exhibits the same problem. I've found a hack to get around the problem by processing the WM_GETMINMAXINFO message, but that introduces other …

This update keeps coming up even after, according to Update History, it was successfully installed. In fact, because I did not realize it, it "installed" about four times. How do i know what is correct, and, if it is installed, how do I get rid of this constant notice to install it? Thanks. >>RSM

I tried installed a 16-bit program on my 64-bit Vista only to find out that it would need Microsoft Virtual PC to run the installer. However when I try to install Microsoft Virtual PC I get Error 1719 when I install the 64 bit version. None of the fixes I have tried worked. I've had Vista for months and never had problems installing anything up to this point. Any help? -- marksimpson884

When I need to print a receipt from a vendor I purchase from on the internet, using IE7 & Vista, I use Adobe Acrobat Distiller and try to save to Documents folder (or subfolder). Error message tells me that due to security issues the file is saved to Temp Internet Files folder instead. When I locate that Temp folder, file isn't there or viewable. I just want to save the .PDF to my documents folder as a .pdf. What security issues can I look at and change that would allow me to save to where I want and not to Temp Internet Files? Does it have to do with IE7's Protected Mode? or UAC? or can I change another setting somewhere? Thanks. -- VickiC Posted via…
