Due to a USB problem (the machine has suddenly started to refuse to recognize the keyboard/mouse plugged into an iogear KVM for some reason) I downloaded the hotfix for kb944704 but not all of the files updated correctly. According to the documentation, the hotfix should update the following to file version 5.2.3790.4189 Usbehci.sys Usbohci.sys Usbport.sys Usbuhci.sys but usbohci.sys did not update along with the others. The hotfix comes only in the form of an .exe file - are the individual files available anywhere to do a manual update?

Over the last few days Windows Explorer searches always lead to a crash, irrespective what else is or isn't running. Error message as follows: Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library. Runtime Error! Program: C:\Windows\Explorer.exe abnormal program termination Closing the message simply clears the desktop and returns to default desktop. Other programs which are running in general seem to continue. I understood W Explorer has similarities to I.Explorer so tried the old chestnut of disabling third party extensions from the Internet Options, but to no avail. Not having Outlook running makes no difference. May be the same problem? Absolute pain not bein…

I recently re-installed XP SR3 on my home-built box and now whenever I attempt to run any of my games, I get a black screen on my monitor. I know the games are running since the audio comes in fine and the keyboard/mouse responses can be heard through the audio. Additionally, if I use my old CRT monitor, there is no issue but my Viewsonic flat-panel displays the black. My first guess was that it was video crad driver related so I updated nvidia drivers, then I went to the Viewsonic site and used their specific driver. No luck - I even tried rolling back to pre-SR-3 update and that doesn't resolve it. Anything I am missing ? Any help would be welcome ? …

I have seen many posts on this issue, and all over the internet, but no solutions. When I access my power options in Vista Business x64, it says my plan is not available. If I try and view the active plan using powercfg...I get permission denied, but I am logged in as Admin. If I list out the power plans using powercfg, I see a huge list...but this is the only view I can get of them. I have a Thinkpad, and I have tried it's power management software. When I load the Thinkpad software, I get a blank list for the power plans! And no changes save, and I cannot create a new one. As anyone had any luck with this issue? It is like I am somehow locked out…

I am a tech coordinator for a rural K-12 school district. I would like to provide a way for students to access their home directories through a web interface. As a school, my budget is not very big. Anybody know of any open source or inexpensive ways to do this. I have played with FTP and User Isolation on 2003, but I don't like the way that their passwords are visible in the addressbar and are sent via plain text. I would think this is something that would be on sourceforge but I have been unable to find anything easy. Thanks for any help.

I won't go into great detail, but I am paralysed and cannot use my hands. So although these programs are a choice for a lot of you out there, it is a major breakthrough and the only choice for someone like me. I have scrolled through many threads and post's, and in some part, I've had answers and half answers, some of them dating back quite a way. I am sure that you guys are fed up with answering the same questions, but as I said earlier, this is a big thing for me so he goes: - I have a new laptop and it came with the new " Vista" complete with the new speech recognition program. I must admit that as speech recognition programs go, this one has va…
