I use terminial servers with network printers. All users can use any printer but they set their own default printer. The default printer is lost when they log off. On 2003 server, I created the logon and logoff script below: Logon Script: REG IMPORT \\server\DefaultPrinters\%clientname%.reg Logoff Script: DEL \\server\DefaultPrinters\%clientname%.reg /q reg export "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\Currentversion\Windows" \\server\DefaultPrinters\%clientname%.reg This works great in 2003 but in 2008, the %clientname% variable is not created while the logon scripte is run. And, it dissappears before the logoff scrip is started. IN 2008 I pu…

Hello: I just installed Windows Server 2008. I am having problems seeing the other computers on the network. I cannot enable the Network Discovery. I seem to have done everything, but every time I click to turn it on, it does not turn on. I think that there is some setting in the firewall that needs to be changed, I am not sure. Has anyone had this problem? Tony

When I start the vista bubbles screensaver it works fine. But after I leave it on for awhile when I come back there are only about 4 bubbles and they are zooming across the screen only bouncing off edges of the screen not each other and so fast you can barely see they are bubbles. It is not affecting anything as far as I know... I can still turn it off by hitting a key or moving the mouse just wondering if this is a sign of something going wrong with my computer or anything. -- Gemstone

On my XP Desktop I get the "Not Formatted Error" whenever I try to read either a floppy disk or a USB stick drive. I have no problem reading the exact same USB drives on either my XP laptop or my Vista Ultimate 64bit desktop. When I try to format a floppy on the XP Desktop (from either Windows or DOS) it eventually fails. This error has only started recently. I have ran a full virus scan, full Spybot 1.6 scan, and SFC /Scannow with no issues showing up. All suggestions welcome

I wanted to add this post because when the APS network was hacked in 2007 and then my home computer was hacked it was really disturbing but now in reflecting back on the experience it was profoundly interesting as well. The hacker(s)? stole all my personnel information and my identity and it was my own stupidity that thought that I was so clever and I have now realized that pride goes before the fall. Anyway, Windows 98 Second Edition got hit with an error but apparently because of the internal safety of the operating system via the lack of services resulting in a smaller surface area as well as the machine not having the potential vulnerabilities of…
